John William Bennett Jr., 72, of Merrill, died Saturday, February 12, 2005, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill, under Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Born in Plover on April 6, 1932, John is the son of the late John W. and Ruby Parks Bennett Sr. He married Carol Jensen on October 3, 1959, in Stevens Point.

John had worked in Merrill Sand and Gravel for several years, Wausau Homes for 10 years, Mitchell Metals and ITS Security. During the Korean War he served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Korea. John enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife Carol, Merrill; sister Avanell Haas, Stevens Point; brothers Carlie (Charlie?), Adams; and Kyrle, Plover; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 17, 10 a.m., at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. There will be visitation tonight from 4-8 p.m. at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again Thursday from 9 a.m. to the hour of services at the funeral home.
