Verna A. Isaacson, 88, of T665 Jefferson Rd., Merrill, town of Texas, died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Verna was born January 6, 1917, in the town of Marine, Marathon County, daughter of the late Otto and Minnie Krueger Pagel. Verna married Walter Saeger on August 7, 1935. He preceded her in death in March 1983. She then married Duane Isaacson on September 8, 1984. He survives.
Verna went to live with her sponsors, Richard and Bertha Goetsch, after her mother died in 1921. She worked at Merrill Candy, Holy Cross Hospital and the Cheese and More Store in Marathon County. She was a member of St. Paul-s Lutheran Church, Town of Pine River, where she was involved in the Ladies Aid. Verna also enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors besides her husband Duane include sister Frances (Gilbert) Jacobi, Wausau; sister-in-law Fern Isaacson, Merrill; step-sons Blake (Michelle) Isaacson, Kuwait; Glenn (Connie) Isaacson, Merrill; and Randy Isaacson, Clintonville; nine step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Aurelia, Selma and Martha, brothers Ewald, Raymond and Wesley; an infant siblings; her sponsor-s children Ann, Arnold, Wilbert and Herbert Goetsch; brother-in-law Jerome Isaacson; and her dear friend Valeria (Ossig) Isaacson, who passed away in 1982.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 24, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Deacon Darrell Gieschen will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. this evening and again Thursday morning from 10 a.m., both at the funeral home.
