Thora Peterson, Irma Resident, Dies Monday

Death came Monday to Mrs. Thora Peterson, Irma, who had been in ailing health for about three years. She died at her home in the Town of Birch. She had been a charter member for the Bethany Lutheran Church in Irma.

Mrs. Peterson was 74 years of age.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at the Taylor funeral home in Merrill. Services were also held at the Bethany Lutheran church with the Rev. Chas. Odahl officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson was born Feb 13, 1879 in Norway. She came to this country in 1892 and settled in Irma four years later. She was married in Stevens Point on Christmas day, 1894 to Charles J. Peterson, who preceded her in death in 1949.

She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and the Mission Society of the Church.

Survivors include five daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Jennie) Lange, Town of Skanawan, Mrs. Ben (Myrtle) Pagels, Two Rivers, Mrs. Tom (Clara) Alorie, Town of Rock Falls, Mrs. Sylvester (Norma) Knash, Boulder Junction, and Mrs. Kurt (Thelma) Schmidtke, Irma; three sons, Ted Peterson, Irma and Gustave and Ninus, at home. 22 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Knutson, her husband, one daughter, Marcella, five sons, Emil, Henry, Clarence, Clifford and Fritchoff, two brothers and three sisters.
