Edna Clocherez, 82, of 708 Cottage St., Merrill, formerly of the town of Corning, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Edna was born October 27, 1922, in the town of Schley, daughter of the late Ernst and Erna Mielke Freitag. She married Hubert Clocherez on June 10, 1950, in the town of Schley. He survives.

During World War II, Edna worked in civil defense plants in the Chicago area. After her marriage, she and her husband farmed in the town of Corning. Edna had also been a part time employee of the Lincoln County Nursing Services and did seasonal work for Peterson-Latzig in Merrill. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Corning, and was also a member of the Ladies Aid of the church. Edna was a member of the "Two Leagues" Homemakers Club. She was a volunteer at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, and was a volunteer reader for Merrill Area Public Schools. Edna enjoyed playing cards and dominos with family and friends, and she also enjoyed keeping a daily journal. She sewed teddy bears for orphaned children throughout the world and sewed lap robes and walker bags for nursing home residents. Edna and Hubert's favorite pastime was square dancing. She sewed her own dance costumes, and the couple square danced in 40 different states.

Survivors besides her husband Hubert, Merrill; include her daughter Gail (Mark) Golomski, Rhineland; son Neal H.; Merrill; grandsons Scott and David Golomski, both of Rhineland; sister Emily Eilers, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and brother Phillip (Marilyn) Freitag, Anchorage, Alaska.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning. Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and at the church on Thursday morning starting at 10 a.m.
