Chester Pluta, 75, of Gleason, died Friday, September 23, 2005, peacefully at home.

Born in Milwaukee on December 27, 1929, Chester was the son of the late Matthew and Anna Wisniewski Pluta. He married Elaine Bagin in Milwaukee in 1953. She preceded him in death. On October 27, 2979, Chester married Carol Ward in West Allis. She survives.

Chester graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee in 1948. While in high school he joined the Naval Reserve and later was drafted into the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his military discharge, Chester received his master's degree from Marquette University. He was a science teacher, counselor and guidance director in the Milwaukee School System. Chester was a member of the Jenny Falls Cork masters Club in Merrill, the American Legion Cudworth Post in Milwaukee, the Lincoln County Retired Educator's Association and a proud member of the Polish Heritage Awareness Society in Stevens Point. Chester was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church in Bloomville, where he was a member of the church choir. He enjoyed wine making, gardening, raising chickens, cooking, baking, fishing, traveling, reading and spending time with his family. Chester enjoyed music and was a member of the Merrill Area Concert Association.

Survivors include his wife Carol, Gleason; sons Matthew (Barbara), West Allis and John (fiance' Wendy Hart), Milwaukee; three grandsons and sisters Sophie Thom, Greendale; Stella (Frank) Wisniewski, Milwaukee; and Alice Kniewel, West Allis. He was preceded in death by his first wife Elaine.

Funeral services were Monday, September 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. Rev. Edward Powell and Michelle Rein officiated. Burial was in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Milwaukee. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
