Magdalene Kautz, 90, of Merrill, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Born in Merrill on May 25, 1915, Magdalene was the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Augusta Julich Kautz.
Magdalene lived in Milwaukee until she returned to Merrill to take are of her mother. She had been employed at Merrill Manufacturing and Weinbrenner Shoe Company. Magdalene was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine River where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She also had been a volunteer for the Bethesda Thrift Store in Wausau. Magdalene received many awards for bowling and archery competitions. She enjoyed reading, stamp collecting, photography, hunting and doing cross word puzzles.
Surviving are her brother Waldemar (Myrna) Kautz, Merrill; 18 nieces and nephews; and cousins, including special cousin Esther Kautz of Merrill. She was preceded in death by brothers Erich, Frederick, Arnold, Ernst and Adolph; and sisters Theresa Frenske and Agatha.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 24, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Town of Pine River. Deacon Darrel Gieschen officiated. Burial was in Springbrook Cemetery, Town of Pine River. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
