Michael D. Sturm, 33, of 1942 N. Warren Ave., Milwaukee, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at his home of natural causes.

Michael was born March 21, 1972, in Merrill, son of Helen (Cohrs-Sturm) Wallace, Merrill, and the late Donald Sturm.

Michael graduated from UW Green Bay with a degree in fine art. Michael worked for the Milwaukee Art Museum for eight years, where he was responsible for the design and construction of regular and special exhibitions. Recently, Michael started his own business specializing in custom design and remodeling. He took pride in the unique pieces of furniture he made. Michael painted murals at various business establishments in Green Bay and Milwaukee. He was a gifted artist. Many of his paintings were given as gifts to those dear to him. Michael was a free spirit who touched the lives of all he met. He always saw the good in people. He had a natural ability of making people smile and laugh. Michael embraced life with a love of travel, history, motorcycling, camping, skiing, and for Seamus, his Boston terrier. Most of all, Michael loved being with the love of his life, Jessica. Uncle Michael's visits were the highlight of all who knew him, especially his niece and nephews. He will be forever loved and missed by all who loved him so deeply.

Survivors include his fiance' Jennifer St. John, Milwaukee; his mother and step father, Helen and Harry Wallace, Merrill; sisters Kay (Ted) Tautges, Merrill; and Laurie (Ron) Rehlinger, Plover; his grandfather Marcus Sturm, Merrill; and nieces and nephews Seth and Aidan Tautges and Nathan, Alex and Hope Rehlinger. He was preceded in death by his father in 1991.

Funeral services were Monday, October 17, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Alden Beversdorf officiated. The Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, was in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran School, Merrill, or the American Heart Association.
