Milton M. Jehn, 83, of Merrill, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, after a brave battled with a brain tumor.

Milton was born March 26, 1921, in the town of Stettin, son of the late Henry and Lillian Wagner Jehn. On May 9, 1942, he married Hazel Eschenbach in Salem Lutheran Church, Wausau. They enjoyed 62 years together.

Milt attended Wausau area public schools. At the age of 25, he was diagnosed with polio. Although polio slowed him down a bit, and he had to learn to walk again, it never slowed his determination to succeed in his work or care for his family. Milt was co-owner of Electric Motor Sales and Service in Stevens Point for 15 years. The family then moved to Wausau and he was store manager for Gustave A. Larson Wholesale Refrigeration Sales Co. for 24 years. He retired in 1981. His hobbies included flying radio-controlled airplanes, attending stock are races and traveling.

Survivors include his wife Hazel; daughter Kathy (Gene) Rusch, Avondale, Ariz.; sons Dennis E. (Judy), Avondale, Ariz.; and Jack L. (Barb), Goodyear, Ariz.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Doris (Lloyd) Grueneberg, Wausau; and brother Harold, Monticello, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Victor, Gilbert and Fremont.

Funeral services were Wednesday, September 29, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. James Weiland officiated. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Stettin. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.

God looked around His garden

So He closed your weary eyes

And whispered "Peace Be Thine."

It broke our hearts to lose you,

But you didn't go alone,

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.
