Harvey Richard Hodgson, 84, of Merrill, died Monday, November 29, 2004, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Born in the town of Schley on April 27, 1920, Harvey was the son of Earl and Hazel Coyer Hodgson. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Bloechl on September 25, 1943, in Merrill. She survives.
Harvey farmed in the town of Schley until he retired in 1982. He had also served as school clerk for the Heller School and some consolidated schools for 10 years. He had worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture for over 40 years, retiring in 2002. Harvey was a director of Consumer's Co-op for 10 years. He was a committeeman with the FHA for a number of years. At the age of 16 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He enjoyed square dancing, hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing cards with family and friends. Harvey was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill.
Survivors include his wife Betty, town of Schley; daughter Marilyn (Ton) Tewes, Green Bay; son Robert (Tippie Peters), Lake Zurich, Ill.; grandchildren Steven (Raina) Hodgson, Scott (Nancy) Hodgson, Daniel (Karen) Hodgson, Michael Tewes, Amy Tewes, Tony Tewes, and James Tewes; and great-grandchildren Paxton, Marika, Sean and Ethan. Also surviving are brothers Hilbert (Edna) and Clyde (Ginny), both of Beaver Dam; brother-in-law Frank (Audrey) Bloechl, town of Schley; sister-in-law Ann (Paul Vera) Sarpolus; Mosinee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Gene, Chester, Clifford and Lee.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 4, at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill.
