John H. Bennett, 45, of Gleason, died Friday, December 24, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Born in Lancaster on May 4, 1959, John was the son of Virgil and the late Sophie Stadelman Bennett. He married Janet Kirschbaum on April 20, 1985. They later divorced. He then married Beverly Pychter on September 9, 1998 in Antigo. She survives.

John farmed in the town of Schley. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1977. He then attended Southwest Technical School in Fennimore. John enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, football and following the Packers, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Beverly, Gleason; son Dan, Cassville; father Virgil (Geneva), Lancaster; brother Tom (Sally) and sisters Mary (Phil) Wegmann and Franny (Rodger) Irish, both of Lancaster; and Joanne (Dave) Zweifel, Lake Mills. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Amy (Travis) Lesser, Jim (Mary) Wegmann, Eric (Cindy) Irish; Crystal and Trisha Irish, Micki (Mark) Uppena, Mike (Chassity) Bennett, and Ryan and Jason Zweifel; aunts and uncles, Sister Dorothy Bennett, Betty Hoffman, Harold Bennett, Joe and Corey Bennett; Sister Mary Stadelman, Leo and Louann Stadelman; and Arlene Stadelman; and eight grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Sophie Bennett.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, at the Waid Funeral Home in Merrill. Rev. James Horath will officiate. Visitation is tonight, Wednesday, 3-7 p.m. and on Thursday morning, 10-11 a.m., all at the funeral home.
