Hazel M. Mraz, 83, formerly of the town of Lewiston, Columbia County, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Portage.

Born in Doering on September 3, 1921, Hazel was the daughter of Frank and Mattie Hubbard Doering. She married Louis Mraz on June 27, 1940, in Crown Point, Ind.

Hazel and her husband resided and farming in the town of Lewiston since they purchased the farm in 1947. Hazel had worked at Eulberg's until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.

Surviving are her husband Louis; children Carolyn (Gary) Prescott and Diana Heath, both of Madison; Senna (Rod) Orr, Sun Prairie; and Daniel (Maggie) Mraz, Portage; grandchildren Richard (Michelle) Prescott, Mark Prescott, Lisa Gladem, Tracy Heath, Araina (Dan) Larwy, Wendy (James) Fisher and Eric (Tracey) Mraz; step-grandchildren Ronna, Marice, Katie, Shealyn and Jorie; and great-grandchildren Daniel, Chase and Dane Prescott, Cammie and Kelsey Gladem, Brianna and Anthony Christofferson, Hannah and Keaton Fischer, and Colton, Logan, Ayden and Ashlyn Mraz. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Frani, Cecelia, Dell, Grace, Clarence, Rosemond, Reid, Chester, Clairabell, and Richard.

A mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, December 23, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Portage. Rev. Jim Murphy officiated. Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery, Portage. The Pfanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage served the family.
