Earl Weber

Earl Weber, 85, of Merrill, died Friday, July 11, 2008, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice at the Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Earl was born May 16, 1923, in Merrill to the late Harry and Bertha (Gehrt) Weber Sr. On June 4, 1947, Earl married Selma Schuster in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Naugart. She survives.

Earl had worked for area farmers and loggers. He had also worked at Ritter's and Schuster's sawmills, Consumer's Co-op for 9 1/2 years, and was the manager of Co-op West Service Station for 14 years. He retired in 1986 after 14 years at Northern Specialty.

Earl was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, garage sales, polka dancing with Selma, playing solitaire and Upwords. And he always enjoyed a good game of sheepshead. He was a "people person" who would greet anyone and everyone. When asked recently what his major accomplishment in life was, he pointed to Selma and said "When I married her 60 years ago." Earl enjoyed spending time with his family. His great-grandchildren lovingly call him "G-G-Pa," as he spent time joking and visiting with them, just as he did with all his children and grandchildren.

Earl is survived by his wife, Selma of Merrill; three daughters, Nancy (Ken) Raddatz and Susan (Terry) Marth, all of Merrill, and Terry (Duwaine) Weber-Nahring of Wausau; three sons, Gary (Nadine) Weber, Dennis (Jocelynn) Weber and Ricki (Brenda) Weber, all of Merrill; three sisters, Elaine Engel and Marion (Milton) Buntrock, all of Merrill, and Dorothy Baumann of Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Tia Raddatz, Karl Raddatz, Breck (Amy) Raddatz, Callie Weber, Cody (Shannon) Weber, Chad (Missy) Weber and Craig (Andrea) Weber; 11 great-grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Dalton, Vincent, Kayoda, Arianna, Ian, Blake, Wyatt, Michelle and Sarah; three step grandchildren, Tyler, Eric and Anna; and one step-great-grandson, Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry Weber Jr. and Leslie Weber Sr.; and one infant sister, Joan.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2008, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Earl was an honest, hard-working man, who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
