John G. Kaufmann

John G. Kaufmann, age 79, Tomahawk, formerly of Birnamwood, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Riverview Terrace Nursing Home, Tomahawk.

He was born April 21, 1925, in Sheboygan, the son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Trumm) Kaufmann. On April 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Twaroski at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. She preceded him in death July 8, 2001.

John was formerly employed at Marathon Electric, Wausau, and operated a dairy farm in the town of Norrie. He later moved to Tomahawk to operate a resort until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making sausage, but especially camping with children and grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Jeff (Jacqueline) Kaufmann, Madison, Christine (John) Gray, Eagle River, Dennis (Connie) Kaufmann, Birnamwood, Constance (Bruce) FauFau and Kathleen Kaufmann, all of Tomahawk, and Matthew (Cathleen) Kaufmann, Madison; eight grandchildren, Sara, Justin, Margot, Courtney, Adam, Kody, Haley and Keagon; and two sisters, Marion (Edward Sr.) Matz and Lorraine (George) Twaroski, all of Birnamwood; and his beloved pet weiner dog, Schnapps. In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen; one brother, Alois; and two sisters, Bernice Silsby and Theresa Kunst.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Everard Scesney O.F.M. will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.
