Joyce L. Boomer
Joyce L. Boomer, age 82 of Tomahawk, passed away on her husband Buzz's birthday -- Monday, November 1, 2004 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk.
Joyce was born February 6, 1922 in Marshfield to the late Rheinhold and Amanda Henrichs. She was first married to Leland West, then to Howard Springer, and lastly to Eugene "Buzz" Boomer - he preceded Joyce in death in 1994.
Joyce moved to Tomahawk in 1994. She was a former drama, foreign language, and English literature teacher, and was employed with the Omro, Seymour, Shiocton, Kaukauna, and Elcho School Districts -- retiring from the Elcho School District in 1980. She was also a teacher for the High Quiz Bowl on television. She enjoyed reading, painting and working with crafts. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her friends and family -- especially her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by four step-sons, Mark (Tami) Boomer, and Eugene (Irma) Boomer, both of Tomahawk, Randy Boomer of Elcho, and Dennis (Diane) Boomer of Laguna Nigel, California; one step-daughter, Renee (William) Weglege of Vancouver, Washington; two brothers, Clayton Henrichs of Columbus, Wisconsin, and Vernon Henrichs of Caro, Michigan; and two sisters, Dorthea "Dot" Schuh and Helen Hornby. Joyce is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands - Leland West, Howard Spring, and Eugene "Buzz" Boomer; one brother, Edward Henrichs; and three sisters, Marie Carruthers, Evelyn Nelson, and June Henrichs.
A Memorial Service for Joyce Boomer will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 7 from the United Church of Christ in Elcho with Pastor Jack LaMar officiating.
