Mabel Brouchoud
Mabel Brouchoud, a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, passed in her sleep Saturday, April 30, 2005.
She was born to Henry and Louise Wilke in Athens on Feb. 22, 1909. She married Roland Brouchoud of Manitowoc on April 1, 1940.
She worked as a beautician for many years and became a homemaker with the birth of her daughter, Louise, in Tomahawk. Mabel spent 94 years of her life in Wisconsin. The last two years she lived in Tumwater, Wash., in the care of her daughter, Louise Brouchoud-Kiser, and son-in-law, James Kiser. She shared their home and became a loving force in their lives.
Mabel, despite her age, was able to make a return journey to Wisconsin in July 2004. She was reunited with the family and friends she loved. She truly missed her beloved Wisconsin.
Mabel was full of life until her last day. She constantly knit and made hundreds of hats for children, and felt even at 96 she needed to be productive.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roland Brouchoud. She is survived by daughter, Louise Brouchoud-Kiser, and son-in-law, James; one brother, Walter Wilke of Wausau; one sister, Bea McCullough of Wausau; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Milton Kersten of Waupaca; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held in May in Tomahawk.
