Walter Kotila, Sr., 86, Walter E. Kotila, Sr., 86, a lifelong Brantwood area resident, died Jan. 14, 2006, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk.

He was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Brantwood to the late Robert and Mary Kotila. He married the former Elsie Rooni on Jan. 19, 1966, in Nevada. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army, and was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne (Cory Niggeman) Judnic, Medford; and Emily Cobbs, Newton, Iowa; by two step daughters, Kathy (Tom) David and Audrey (Jim Charles) Smith, both of Irma; by one son Walter, Jr., Brantwood; by one step son James Lammi, Dorchester; and by eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie in February 2005.

A military service tribute was held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Krueger & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ziemer officiating. Burial will be in Somo Cemetery in the spring.

Krueger & Sons Funeral Home, Tomahawk, assisted the family with arrangements.
