Eugene “Grunty” Degner

Eugene E. “Grunty” Degner, 68, 100 S. Foster St., Merrill, died Friday, June 28, 1996, at his home. “Grunty” was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and was the owner and operator of Grunty’s Bar in Merrill.

Survivors include his wife, Doris (Lindahl) Degner, his mother, Elsa Degner, Merrill; his daughter, Dorgene (Todd) Pester, Merrill; his son, Eddie Degner, Merrill; four sisters, Audrey (Don) Krau, Milwaukee, Muriel (Fahy) Day, Maggie (Vernon) Woller and Judy (Ralph) Zimmerman, all of Merrill; three brothers, Leroy (Marie) Degner, Clarence (Sue) Degner and Jerry Degner, all of Merrill; and a granddaughter, Mollie Pester, Merrill.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Waid Chapel, Merrill. Interment will be at Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Waid Funeral Home.
