Joan M. Steger

Joan M. "Slimmie" Steger, 74, Gleason, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Joan had worked at Northwestern Mutual Insurance Co. in Milwaukee. She was also a switchboard operator at Gleason Telephone and later at Weinbrenner Shoe Co., Merrill.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Steger, Gleason; three daughters, Judy (Mark) Westberg, Wausau, Gail (Mark) Juhlke, Merrill, and Jodi (Al) Larocque, Spencer; one son, Steve (LuAnn) Steger, Gleason; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Jackie (Dan) Wedler, Rockford, Ill., Marilyn Shook, Defiance, Ohio, and Jean Thom and Kay (John) Ronis, all of Gleason; and one brother, Robert (Judith) DeMesy, Merrill.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Langlade County. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
