P. B. Champagne, dry goods, hardware, provisions and lumbermen’s supplies, also dealer in logs and lumber, Merrill. Was born in Juliette, Canada East, Dec. 8, 1846. He located at Grand Rapids, in December, 1863, where he remained until 1879, in the lumber business; form there he went to Wausau, where he was engaged part of the time in the mercantile business and lumbering until 1875, at which time he came to Merrill, and engaged in his present occupation. He was married on Friendship, Allegany Co., N. Y., in 1871, to Alice G. Coon, who was born in Deposit, Broome Co., N. Y. October 28, 1853. They have two children, Percy B. and Marie E. Mr. Champagne is the present Chairman of the County Board of Lincoln County. He is also Chairman of Supervisors of this town. He does an extensive business in the pineries, and employs 150 men.
