Charles W. Meadows, attorney at law, of the firm of Hoyt & Meadows, Merrill, was born in Trenton, N. J., Feb. 24, 1847. He settled in Leon, Monroe Co., and lived there ten years. He began reading law with W. J. Hahn, of Lake City, Minn., and remained there a short time; from there he went to Sparta, and remained until March, 1881, at which time he came to Merrill, where he entered upon the practice of his profession. He enlisted in Co. A., 3rd Wis. Cav., and served two years, or until the close of the Rebellion, and was mustered out Sept. 29, 1865, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He was married at Viroqua, Wis., March 3, 1881, to Edna L. Irish, who was born in Elizabeth, Jo Daviess, Co., Ill., Oct. 11, 1852.
