David Benzinger

David A. "Benny" Benzinger, 64, Merrill, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Saint Joseph's Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield.

He was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Merrill to the late Harry "Harlo" and LuEllen "Enzie" (Litke) Benzinger. He married Bonnie Wendt on April 11, 1964. She survives.

He was employed at Wausau Papers of 39 years until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed sports, hunting and cooking maple syrup.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Benzinger, Merrill; two sons, Ron L. Benzinger and Thomas A. Benzinger, both of Merrill; two sisters, Marlene Benzinger (Terry Frisch) and Barbara (Jerry) Laskot, both of Merrill; one sister-in-law, Caroline (Robert) Riemer, Athens; mother-in-law, Florence (Gulkneeht) Wendt, Wausau; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roger Benzinger; one nephew, Darren Laskot; and his father-in-law, Helmuth Wendt.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Hamburg. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill and will begin again at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the church.
