Delilah H. Fischer

Delilah H. Fischer, 86, 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, formerly of 711 E. First St., Merrill, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Good Samaritan Health Center under Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Delilah was born Jan. 1, 1917, in the town of Corning, daughter of the late Paul and Friedarecka (Bartelt) Berndt. She married Joe Fischer on Nov. 14, 1936, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1976. Delilah was a member of the Ladies Aid at St. Stephends United Church of Christ, Merrill. She was a Red Cross Volunteer. Delilah was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary No. 584, Merrill, and was the secretary of the Central Wisconsin Polka Club. Delilah enjoyed making silk flower arrangements, dancing, baking, and traveling.

Survivors include two sisters-in-laws, Helen Berndt and Lorna Kanitz, both of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Marcella Oestreich, and her special nephew, Ralph H. Schulz, both of Merrill. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Harold, and Elmer Berndt; and three sisters, Erna Schulz, Esther Oestreich and Lillian Kleinschmidt.

The funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, town of Corning. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again starting at 9a.m. Saturday at the church.
