Delilah H. Fischer
Delilah H. Fischer, 86, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill, under Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Delilah was born January 1, 1917, in the town of Corning, daughter of the late Paul and Freidarecka (Bartelt) Berndt. She married Joe Fischer in Merrill on November 14, 1936. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1976.
Delilah was a member of the Ladies Aid at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill, and a Red Cross volunteer. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #584, Merrill, and was the secretary of the Central Wisconsin Polka Club. Delilah enjoyed making silk flower arrangements, dancing, baking, and traveling.
Survivors include sisters-n-law Helen Berndt and Lorna Kanitz, both of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews including special niece Marcella Oestreich and special nephew Ralph H. Schulz, both of Merrill. She was preceded in death by brothers; Frank, Harold, and Elmer Berndt and sisters; Erna Schutz, Esther Oestreich and Lillian Kleinschmidt.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 28, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart officiated. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery, town of Corning. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
