Dorathea A. Kleinschmidt

Dorathea A. Kleinschmidt, 84, of 1500 O’Day St., Merrill, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.

Dorathea was born June 3, 1921, in Merrill, daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Hass) Schmidt. She married Kurt Kleinschmidt on Jan. 10, 1942, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2001.

Dorathea was a homemaker and dairy farmer in the town of Corning. She enjoyed growing African violets and visiting with her family.

Survivors include her son Dale (Janet), Merrill; daughter-in-law Judith M. Kleinschmidt, Merrill; grandchildren Jeremy, Gregory, Jason (Tanya), Brandon (Rebecca) and Sarah; and great-grandchildren Amber, Michael, Matthew, Jeza, Cody, Alison, Devan, Cole and Lauryn. Also surviving are sisters Elsie (Clarence) Bade, Laura (Clarence) Hahn, and Selma Adams, all of Merrill; and brothers Reuben Schmidt and Arthur (Phyllis) Schmidt, both of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Gene in 1988, and her siblings Fritz, Norman, Elmer, Alfred and Lillian.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. John Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. Rev. John Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bell Tower Residence for their wonderful care.
