Elsie A. Leistikow

Elsie A. Leistikow, 93, of 2100 E. Sixth Street, Merrill, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Elsie was born September 29, 1909, in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Julius and Anna (Borchardt) Mueller. She married Elmer Leistikow on August 2, 1928. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1982.

Elsie had been employed in the housekeeping department in the maternity ward at the former Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill. She had also done housekeeping in several Merrill area office buildings. Elsie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Lucille (Donald) Raasch, Merrill, Gertrude (David) Johnson, Wausau, and June Roerick, Woodbury, Minnesota; one son, Harlan (Judy) Leistikow, Oakdale, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. One sister, Florence Luepke, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Berlin. The Rev. Jeffrey Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Church Cemetery, Town of Berlin.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and starting at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, or to the charity of your choosing.

The Elsie Leistikow family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Pine Crest Nursing home, Merrill, and also to our mother’s special roommate at Pine Crest, Lena Loka.
