William K. Pester

William K. Pester, 78, of Merrill died Thursday, July 28, 2005, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at his residence.

He was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Merrill, son of the late Kurt and Nora (Kuether) Pester. Bill married Bernice Raasch June 14, 1952, in Merrill. She survives.

Bill served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was a truck driver for many years, working at Marathon Battery and Glendenning Motorway. He retired from the Teamsters at the age of 57. He then continued to work until age 71 at various jobs. Bill was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, formerly serving an elder and an usher. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union. Bill was an avid Packers fan, and he enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Pester of Merrill; two daughters, Charlene (Steve) Anderson of Ely, Iowa, and Sherry (Dan) Wayda of Schofield; three sons, Bryan (Susan) Pester of Wausau, and Mark (Pam) Pester and Todd Pester, all of Merrill; two sisters, Emily (Arnold) Zemke of Merrill and Eleanor (Gene) Loud of Clinton, Tenn.; four brothers, Gustave (Peg) Pester of Marquette, Mich., Roland (Mary) Pester of Watertown, S.D., Fred (Carol) Pester of Merrill, and Donald Pester of Rapid City, S.D.; nine grandchildren, Chad (Leah) Pester, Matthew Pester, Jeremy (Melissa) Anderson, Nicolas Anderson, Mitchell Pester, Bobbi Pester, Rebecca (Brian) Zoromski, Dennis (Dawn) Wayda and Mollie Pester; and three great-grandchildren, Kylie Anderson, Devin Zoromski and Alexander Wayda. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Pester; and two grandchildren, Kerry and Patrick Anderson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Faith Lutheran Church in the town of Maine. The Rev. Steven Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, town of Scott. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
