William K. Pester

William Kurt Pester, 78, of Merrill, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at his residence under the Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Bill was born February 27, 1927, in Merrill, to the late Kurt and Nora (Kuether ) Pester. He married Bernice Raasch on June 14, 1952, in Merrill. She survives.

Bill served his country as a member of the Air Force. He was a truck driver for many years, working at Marathon Battery and Glendenning Motorway. He retired from the Teamsters at the age of 57. He then continued to work until age 71 at various jobs. Bill was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, formerly serving as an elder and an usher. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union. Bill was an avid Packer fan, and he enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors besides his wife, Bernice, of Merrill, include: daughters Charlene (Steve) Anderson, Ely, Iowa, and Sherry (Dan) Wayda, Schofield; sons Bryan (Susan), Wausau, Mark (Pam) and Todd, both of Merrill; grandchildren Chad (Leah) Pester, Matthew Pester, Jeremy (Melissa) Anderson, Nicolas Anderson, Mitchell Pester, Bobbi Pester, Rebecca (Brian) Zoromski, Dennis (Dawn) Wayda and Mollie Pester; and great-grandchildren Kylie Anderson, Devin Zoromski and Alexander Wayda. He is further survived by sisters Emily (Arnold) Zemke, Merrill, and Eleanor (Gene) Loud, Clinton, Tenn.; and brothers Gustave (Peg), Marquette, Mich., Roland (Mary), Watertown, S.D., Fred (Carol), Merrill, and Donald, Rapid City, S.D.

He was preceded in death by brother, Richard and grandchildren Kerry and Patrick Anderson.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 1, at Faith Lutheran Church, town of Scott. The Rev. Steven Anderson officiated. Burial was in Scott Cemetery, town of Scott. Full military honors were provided by VFW Post #1638 Honor Guard. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
