Lillie Sturm

Lillie Pauline Rusch Sturm, 92, of 1400 Cedar St., Merrill, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Lillie was born May 1, 1913, in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Edward and Ida Jahns Rusch. Lillie grew up and attended schools in the Merrill area. She married Marcus Otto Sturm on August 22, 1936. He survives.

The couple farmed in the town of Maine from 1936 until 1950, and were the owners of Sturm Trucking, Inc., where Lillie served as secretary/ treasurer. After retiring, the Sturms resided in Bradenton, Fla., from 1976 until 1984. Lillie enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards, polka dancing and bowling. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith.

Survivors besides her husband include sons Kenneth (Joy) Sturm, Fond du Lac; and Gary Sturm, Wildomar, Calif.; grandchildren Sherry (Glen) Schuelke, Kerry (Glenn) Laabs-Mohre, and Kay (Ted) Tautges, all of Merrill; Laurie (Ron) Rehlinger, Plover; and Michael Sturm, Milwaukee; and great-grandchildren Liza, Gregory and Joshua Laabs, Briana Elias, Nickolas Schuelke, Nathan, Alex and Hope Rehlinger, and Seth and Aidan Tautges. Also surviving are daughters-in-law Helen (Harry) Sturm-Wallace, Merrill; and Shirley Sturm Roberts, Milwaukee; and sisters Mable Wengeler, Norma Strasser and Leona Schmidt. She was preceded in death by son Donald, sister Hertha Weiss and brother Hugo Rusch.

Funeral services were Tuesday, August 2, at Faith Lutheran Church, town of Maine. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
