--- Schmidt, Alfred A. (8 Sept. 1917 – 18 Oct. 1984)

Alfred A. Schmidt, 67, 1811 E. First St., Merrill, died at 9 p.m. (7:30 p.m.) Thursday at Wausau Hospital Center. He farmed in the Town of Pine River until retiring in 1980.

Mr. Schmidt was born in the town of Corning, Lincoln County, Sept. 8, 1917, son of the late Arthur and Martha Schmidt. He was married in the Town of Pine River, Lincoln County, June 15, 1946, to Leona Rusch, who survives. He was a member and trustee of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, town of Scott, served on the Corning Town Board, and was a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau.

Survivors besides his wife, include two sons, Edward, 15085 Brandenburg Ave., Merrill, and Mark, Marshall; three daughters, Mrs. Quinten (Linda) Ament, W8192 Brook Drive, Mrs. Dennis (Ione) Koehler, N2030 Highway M, and Mrs. Virgil (Mae) Wendt, N2672 Highway 107, all of Merrill; three brothers, Elmer W4431 Spring Lake Road, and Ruben W8320 Highland Ave., both of Merrill, and Arthur, Jim Falls; five sisters, Mrs. Lillian Zimmerman, 711 E. First St., Mrs. Clarence (Elsie) Babe, W4755 Golf Drive, Mrs. Clarence (Laura) Hahn, 1300 Mathews St., Mrs. Ronald (Selma) Adams, M2176 Highway M, and Mrs. Kurt (Dorathea) Kleinschmidt, W9036 Highway Ff, all of Merrill; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, town of Scott. The Rev. Henry Gieschen will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Schram-Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and from 11 a.m. Monday until services will be at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
