Arthur R. Schmidt, 80, 807 Jefferson St., Merrill, died at 11 a.m. Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Zimmerman, 1410 Cotter Ave., Merrill, after an illness of five days.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Roland Finke will officiate and burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott, Lincoln County.
The body will be at the Schram Funeral home in Merrill after 1 p.m. Wednesday and until it is taken to the church at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Mr. Schmidt was born in Merrill, Dec. 31, **1884, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt. He was married in the town of Scott, Nov. 9, 1907, to Martha Hass, who survives. He was a member of the Golden Ages Club of Merrill; a former assessor and school board member of the town of Corning and former president of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Scott.
Survivors besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Zimmerman, include four other daughters, Mrs. Clarence Bade and Mrs. Roland Adams, both of the town of Scott, Mrs. Clarence Hahn, Merrill, and Mrs. Kurt Kleinschmidt, Town of Corning; five sons, Elmer, Norman, Reuben and Alfred, all of the town of Corning, and Arthur, Town of Texas; two brothers Edwin, Town of Corning, and Herbert, Merrill; a sister, Mrs. Robert Wendt, town of Corning, 43 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
