Emily Lewerenz, 84, of Tomahawk, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Riverview Rehab and Care Center in Tomahawk.

She was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Peter and Bertha Schank.

Mrs. Lewerenz formerly worked at the Lake Ice Co. on Half Moon Lake. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Tomahawk. She enjoyed flowers, birds and nature. She was stricken with multiple sclerosis in 1948 but maintained a cheerful and positive outlook, in spite of her illness.

Surviving are one son Rodger, Coeur D’alene, Idaho; one daughter, Helen Lewerenz, Coeur D’alene, Idaho; two brothers, John Schank, Cambria, and Carlen Stevens, Hazelhurst; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Riverview Rehab and Care Center where she had resided for the past 34 years. The Rev. O. E. Bartholomew officiated. Krueger & Sons Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
