Norma I. Strasser, 84, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Norma was born June 22, 1921, in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Edward and Ida (Jahns) Rusch. She married George Strasser on November 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1984.

Norma was a homemaker and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, tatting, needlepoint, sewing and raising flowers.

Survivors include her daughters Rosie (Jerry) Klempke, Princeton; and Sharon (Clint) Kasper, Merrill; sons Jim (Patty), Princeton; Gene, Merrill; and Dale (Shirley), Wausau; former daughters-in-law Jeannie Hendrichs, Merrill; and Nancy Strasser, Wausau; grandchildren Eric (Julie) Kasper, Jeremy (Theresa) Strasser, Timothy (Michele) Hendrichs, and Samantha Strasser; step-grandchildren Shane and Natasha Gutche; and great-grandchildren Madison “Maddie” Lynn Kasper, Damian, Sabrina and Desiree Strasser and Jack Hendrichs. Also surviving are sisters Mable Wengeler and Leona Schmidt, both of Merrill.

Norma is preceded in death by two sisters, Hertha Weiss and Lillie Sturm, and one brother, Hugo Rusch.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. The Rev. David Klemm will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral home in Merrill and again from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
