Milfred Jaeger

Milfred Jaeger, 85, of Merrill, formerly town of Pine River, Lincoln County, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Pallative Care.

Milfred was born June 16, 1923, in the town of Pine River, Lincoln County, the son of the late Albert and Hulda (Delf) Jaeger. He married Dorothy Nass-Mueller on May 7, 1977, at St. Peter's Church, Hamburg.

He worked at Semling-Menke 37 years, and also was a custodian at several offices in Merrill. Milfred and Dorothy were both custodians at Faith Lutheran Church, town of Maine, for 26 years.

Milfred enjoyed doing carpentry work and playing cards with several card clubs. He loved his John Deere tractor and doing yard work outside. He enjoyed listening to polka music, dancing, hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family. Milfred's faith was very important to him. When he was a custodian at church, sometimes you would find him just sitting and sharing stories with Pastor Hoogland.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jaeger of Merrill; his son, Larry Wayne (Ginny) Jaeger of Wausau; stepchildren, Dan and Nancy Mueller, Marshfield, Bill and Rita Mueller, Wausau, Tom and Judy Mueller, Sun Prairie, Russell and Cheryl (Mueller) Butalla, Marathon, Mike and Carol (Mueller) Galganski, Gleason; two grandchildren, Aaron (Rochelle) Jaeger, Wausau, and Travis and Kimberly (Jaeger) Wasmundt, Tomahawk, 12 step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille (Eddie) Pophal, Lydia (James) Goetsch, and Caroline Krause, all of Merrill; one brother, Dale (Ruth) Jaeger, Hazelhurst; four sisters-in-law, Lois Jaeger, Elvira (Hugo) Bielke, Bonnie (David) Radtke, and Phyllis (Allen) Buch; and one brother-in-law, DuWayne (Carol) Nass. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman 'Butch' Jaeger; five brothers-in-law, Roger Voigt, Elroy Krause, Marvin Nass, Robert Nass, and Ruben Nass; and one sister-in-law, LoRayne Nass.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church, town of Maine. Visitation will be Friday, May 8, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or a charity of donors choice.
