Norine E. Hager

Norine E. Hager died on Friday, June 24, 2005, at the age of 87 of natural causes at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, DE.

She was born Norine Johnson inMerrill, WI on August 7, 1917, the 4th of 5 children of Ruben and Sophia Johnson. Norine went to high school in Barrington, IL where she met and later married her high school sweetheart and husband for 58 years, Glenn F. Hager. The Hagers moved to DE in the 1940s and raised their family on Horseshoe Hill near Hockessin. Norine was a co-owner of the Colonial Yarn Shop in Greenville, DE. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in the Sunday School nursery. Norine was a natural athlete all her life and continued to bowl, win golf tournaments and ace her grandchildren on the tennis court well into her 70s.

Norine was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her daughter, Corinne Berry of Hockessin; and siblings, George Johnson, Alan Johnson and Helen Crystal. She is survived by her sister, Marion Grothman of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Kathleen Carmean and her husband, Vance Carmean, of Ridgely, MD; daughter, Kristi Hager of Missoula, MT; son, G. Michael Hager and his wife, Cindy Fassett Hager, of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Blair Carmean, Michele Gangemi, Mark Berry, Lynn Wittstadt, Kristopher Hager and Cory Hager; step-grandchildren, Scott Fassett and Greg Fassett; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be private and a memorial celebration is planned for a later date.

The family requests that any memorial contributions be given to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810; or to a favorite charity.
