Marvel J. Frick

Marvel Jeanette Frick, 88, 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. She was the widow of Bernhardt A. Frick Sr. They were married July 2, 1938.

Marvel was born Feb. 15, 1920, in the town of Skanawan, the daughter of the late Vance and Palma (Knuston) Mitchell.

Marvel was a member of the former Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Doering and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill where she helped assemble and mail out the newsletters. She was a member of the Merrill Area Christian Women's Club and the Schley Homemakers Club. Marvel enjoyed Bible study, playing cards with family and friends, cooking and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.

Marvel grew up in the town of Skanawan and attended Chat School. She later lived in the town of Schley. Marvel was a farm wife, and also worked for Hanson Glove Co. for many years. She also worked at Skippers Restaurant, the Merrill Golf Course and Pine Ridge Restaurant as a waitress.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy F. Schmidt, Shawano, and Gail P. (Lloyd) Haig, Merrill; four sons, Bernhardt V.O. (Caroline) Frick and Daniel L. (Grace) Frick, all of Merrill, Larry J. (Susan) Frick, Wausau, and Timothy A. (Debbie) Frick, Powhatan, Va.; three sisters, Evelyn Marshall, Sturgis, Mich., Marjorie (Orea) Erickson, Savage, Minn., and Dolores (David) Anderson, Melrose, Wis.; one brother, Gordon (Arlette) Mitchell, Merrill; and 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernhardt A. Frick Sr.; two brothers, Murel and Vernel "Bill;" and three sisters, Irene Zastrow, Lorraine and Ruth Mitchell.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, with The Rev. David Klemm officiating. Interment will be at Emmanuel Luther Memorial Cemetery, town of Schley. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
