Adeline Neumann

Adeline "Tootie" Neumann, 81, of Merrill, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Born Dec. 14, 1925, in Wausau, Adeline was the daughter of the late Arthur and Edith Schmalfuss Tewes. She married Ray Neumann in Merrill on Aug. 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1980.

Adeline graduated from Merrill High School. She had worked as a waitress at Dick's Riverside Club, at Franklin School in the food service, and for many years at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, all in Merrill. Adeline was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ and the Dorcas Society in Merrill. She enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, and playing Scrabble with her family and friends. Adeline will be remembered as an independent person who dearly loved her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son Mike (Kathy), Merrill; granddaughters Jenny (Dan) Wendorf and Molly (Dave) Hoff, both of Merrill; great-grandchildren Sophie and Cooper Wendorf and Emma and Avery Hoff; sisters Loretta "Dolly" Gretenhardt and Virginia Brendemeuhl, both of Wauwatosa; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, brother Wallace Tewes Sr., and sister Delores Neumann.

Private family services were held at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. John Eldred officiated.
