Gary J. Drake


Gary J. Drake, age 48, of W5915 Eggert Drive, Irma, town of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at his home.


Gary was born June 26, 1956, in Wausau, son of Evelyn (Jansen) Schmidt, Athens, and the late Lindford Drake.


Gary worked at Packaging Corporation of America in Tomahawk as a logging equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting on his land in the town of Rock Falls that he named "Drake's Whitetail Acres." Gary also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and William Schmidt, Athens; two sons, Tyler and Travis Drake, both of Merrill; his fiancé, Roberta Flohr, Irma; and three brothers, Scott (Kay) Drake, Athens, Bruce (Pat) Drake, Mosinee, and Bryan (Lotti) Drake, Merrill.


The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Earl Eckhart will officiate. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, town of Rock Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and at the church Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

 

Additional Note: Gary married Kathryn Ann Vachavake in Lincoln County on 5 May 1984.
