Clifford G. Touchette, age 83, of Blair died on Monday, August 1, 2005, in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Clifford was born on September 24, 1921, in Merrill, Wis., to Frank and Mary (Redman) Touchette. Clifford married Betty Clatt on October 21, 1950, in Milwaukee. Betty preceded Clifford in July of 2003.

Clifford worked in Milwaukee before he joined the United States Army in 1940 and served honorably until 1963, when he retired at the rank of sergeant first class. During his years in the military, he served in New Guinea, Australia, Korea, Germany, El Paso and San Antonio, Texas, and on the Good Ship Hope as a surgical technician. Clifford was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his retirement from the military, he worked at Trane Company and briefly at Altec in La Crosse.

Clifford's favorite hobby and love was classic cars. His special love was a 1960 Ford Thunderbird. He was a member of the Coulee Classics Car Club of La Crosse. Clifford had many wonderful memories and lasting friendships as a result of his membership with this fine group of people.

Clifford is survived by his children, Cathy (Dick) Kerska of La Luz, N.M., Steve (Ellen) Touchette of Blair and Laurie (Jeff) Guza of Taylor; grandchildren, Paul, Sara, Jeremy, Melissa and Brian; a special brother-in-law, Henry (Jeanne) Clatt; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Clifford was preceded in death by a sister, June Blanton; and a brother, Duane Touchette.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Jack Funeral Home with burial in the Rest Haven Cemetery, both in Blair. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials may be designated to the Grand View Care Center in Blair.
