About Heard County
(Location: 33.2996 N, 85.1292 W)

The area now known as Heard County was created in 1830 from the Counties of Carroll, Coweta and Troup.     Heard County takes its namesake from Governer Stephen Heard. The Cabin pictured here is known as the Davis Cabin, where the first Heard County government was formed. Many Heard County records are non-existant today due to courthouse fires in 1843 and 1894 which makes research in the county very difficult. All who have information in the form of Wills, Deeds, Grants, Bibles etc are encouraged to submit their information so it can be shared with everyone.
