Land The country adjacent to Nebraska City is unsurpassed for agriculture. Wheat, corn, rye, barley and tobacco, yield most munificent crops and a ready market, at fair prices is always found. And yet this land can be purchased at figures ranging from two to one hundred dollars per acre. Men of the East who, seeking new, healthy and comfortable homes in the great and growing West, should come now a few years more and the chances for such investments will have passed away forever. There is not another Nebraska to be settled, such another vast expanse of splendid soil will never again be thrown open for development.

Land Stealing. Legislature Nebr. The constitution of Nebraska under the influence of example of other States, in terms require all corporations to be formed under a general law. This was intended to protect the people from the exacting demands of remorseless bodies and, opening up to fair competition; everything that required "corporate bodies" to execute. Section 75 of the genera]. law of incorporation reads as follows:- No monopolies created, no land donated, and no exclusive rights or privileges granted under this section; but presto change. This section was amended, being approved by our vigilant governor on the 7th of this month. Thus the Legislature does what the constitution forbids. On June 8th the "Northern Nebraska Air Line from De Sota, Washington Co. to Fremont was organized under general law as above amended and by which they expect to receive about 100,000 acres of land, and D. C. Slader and J. A. Unthank, members of the House of Representatives from Washington Co., as officers of the company; J. P. Davis, Senator from same county, (the only gentleman north of the Platte who voted for location of public buildings at Lincoln) ; Thomas P. Keimard, Sec'y of State and one of the commissioners to locate capitol buildings at Lincoln City, and John P. Bowen of the Rouse of Representatives. June 11, after the amendment approval, the "Nemaha Valley, Lincoln City and Columbus railroad was incorporated," commencing at Rulo, Richardson County, thence up the Great Neinaha to Saline City, then Columbus. Officers of said road are Gov. David Butler, one of the commissioners to determine where Lincoln City shall be located, T. J. Collins, T. J. Majors, Jas. E. Doom, Geo. P. Tucker, Wm. Daily, W. F. Chapin, James P. Hoile (all Republican members of Legislature but Hoile, who voted for removal and new location of all public buildings at Lincoln), and E. S. Dundy, J. P. Hall, Jas. E. Lamaster, and P. W. Hitchcock were taken into partnership. On June 11th, under the same amended incorporation law, the Kansas & Nebraska R. B. was organized with Gov. David Butler commissioner, E. S. Dundy and Jas. E. Lamaster lobbyists and the Republican Representatives of the people's interests and guardians of the people's rights - Thos. C. Collins, Wm. Daily, Thos. J. Majors, Wm. F. Chapin, James E. Doom, Geo. p. Tucker and P. W. Hitchcock - all voting for removal and location of state buildings at Lincoln City. The objective point toward which all this legislation is directed - in the original bill for location of public buildings, "Capitol City" was to be the name of the new location, and when the various railroad companies were organizing, "Capitol City" was designated as one of the points to be touched; the papers however were not filed in Secretary of State's office until after the Senate changed the name to Lincoln - whereupon "Capitol City" was erased and Lincoln City in the railroad incorporation articles which were then filed and being the only companies formed under the general law (except one not in the ring) are intended to cover, as they would, nearly all desirable belongings to the State.

Land. Under Cultivation. We have no reliable statistics but from the best information we can get, we believe that nearly six times the usual area has boon sown this year. The city dealers in agricultural implements thought they had ordered enough plows to break all the land between the Missouri and Colorado but the supply was exhausted before the season had barely opened; - the demand is greater than the supply.

Lands, Nebraska From "Moore's Rural New Yorker", Major Brooks well written and truthful notes of Nebraska. Central Nebraska still holds great inducements to men of small means, great courage and good habits. American pioneers are the most illustrious heroes; but a Western pioneer on a good soil like Nebraska ready for the plow, and with railroad facilities as will soon be had from nothing to $2.50 per acre, has a bitter prospect than most of our fathers. Hon. A. F. Harvey, editor of the Nebraska Statesman informs of several millions of acres of good land in Nebraska still subject to entry under the Homestead Act, large grants of excellent land have been made to railroads, which are offered within 15 miles of the track at $2.50 per acre and good government land may be purchased for $1.25 an acre. One of the jest farms in Nebraska is owned and cultivated by Mr. Gilmore, Nebraska City, whose fine fruit and fine Durham stock deserves highest praise. His neighbor, Mr. Morton, is also a prominent farmer, O. Harmon, Esq enterprising farmer and able writer. Mr,& Mrs. Wm. Kennicott of New York, extended hospitality for a few days.

Lands, State. Editorial. Now generally conceded that the State lands should be sold to actual settlers only and upon fair and easy terms, to the purchaser. Also conceded that the proceeds of said lands should be appropriated to the building of a Railroad or Roads to benefit the whole State of Nebraska as far as possible. It has been suggested that the best line of Road for the greatest number of citizens is one with its Eastern initial point somewhere on the Blue river or at Lincoln and leave the river towns to build out to that point upon their own resources.

Lands, State. Nebraska. Editorial The News thinks it may pay to hold the lands for awhile, that it is not indispensably necessary to give them away or even sell them during the ensuing session of the Legislature as the people of Nebraska are not obliged to dispose of their land at the earliest opportunity, but the News being a Democratic journal will be undisappointed if "loil men" steal, sell, swindle, cheat or do any other modernly patriotic thing with all the State Lands this winter.
