NOTES:

We were told that families were allowed to supply a gravestone during early days of this cemetery. This accounts for some "different stones" in the older parts of the cemetery. That policy was later modified, only "military stones" are now installed on gravesites. All military stones are white granite, upright.

The oldest gravestones (mostly civil war veterans) are found just inside the gate on the left (south) side of the main drive. The inscriptions face west on all stones we examined, and were in deep shadow during morning.
