in detail the work on each charge. Taking them in alphabetical order we first come to Bartlett.
This is a name that suggests hardship and toil under discouraging circumstances. But however hard such fields will always find some Methodist preacher ready to go to them. The pastor has wrought faithfully, and his labor has resulted in:
Eight conversions.
Seven accessions.
Improvements, have been made on property to the amount of $12, and an old debt of $175 on the parsonage provided for in notes. R. N. Throckmorton. pastor.
Battle Creek, one of our old new fields, has been well organized, and starts out on a new career of growth. The year's work has resulted in:
Fifty conversions.
Thirty-four accessions.
and the inauguration of a new church enterprise which would have liven well under way but for the money stringency. R. J. Millard. pastor.
Bloomfield is a new and growing town in the center of the eastern half of Knox county, and is the present terminus of the Wayne branch of the C. St. P. M. & O. R. R. The first years of our work in this place were years of struggle. But the victory has been complete, and our church is at the front with a harmonious and hopeful membership. The pastor reports:
Eighteen conversions.
Twelve accessions.
One hundred and thirty dollars; expended on improvements in the way of carpets, pulpit sets. etc. E. W. Erickson, pastor.
Creighton has made rapid progress this year. The first six months Rev. J. H. Frazer had pastoral charge, and during this time a very gracious revival took place under the labors of Sister M. Phillips, resulting in:
One hundred and twenty-five conversions.
Eighty-five uniting with our church.
About the first of April Rev. Frazer was at his own request changed to the Coleridge charge and Frank G. Perry was placed in charge, and has since served them.
The parsonage has been papered and two rooms elegantly furnished for Epworth League parlors at cost of $100. I ought to add that the pastor took up work at Bazile Mills, three miles north of Creighton, and in June held a series of meetings at which there were twenty conversions and twenty-five accessions.
Creighton circuit was formed last Conference, but has not as yet

Elgin has had marvelous growth this year and reports:
Eighty-five conversions.
Ninety-three accessions.
There have been improvements amounting to $75. D. R. Collings, pastor.
The work on the Emerick charge has been pushed vigorously by the pastor, J. A. Roads, and there has been:
Twenty conversions.
Twenty accessions.
Amount paid on old debts $36. improvements $45.
Ewing has made a healthy growth, and the year's work has resulted in:
Twenty-two conversions.
Twenty-eight accessions.
And improvements to the amount of $125 have been made. Bartley Blain, pastor.
Lone Tree has held its own with E. E. Morse, pastor.
Neligh is our most important field, and in some respects the most difficult. The location of Gates College at this place in some respects gives our sister Congregational church the advantage, but our church continues to grow. Though the town has not grown in the last three years, in that time the church has doubled its membership. and this year there has been:
Twenty conversions.
Twenty-eight accessions.
The marked feature of the revival last winter was the large number of old people converted, many ranging from fifty to seventy. A ten-year-old debt of $222 due the Church Extension Society has been paid, and improvements made on church and parsonage amounting to $180. Total $440.
Wm. Gorst is closing his third year as pastor.
Newman Grove has been blessed with another year of prosperity, as indicated by:
Thirty conversions.
Twenty-five accessions.
One church is about completed at Lindsey at cost: of $1,500, another well under way at Newman Grove to cost $1,800, the old church at this place becoming too small.
C. G. Rouse closes his second year as pastor.
Niobrara was left to be supplied at last Conference, and I secured the services of Rev. J. C. Ingersoll. The charge has made good

growth. There have been good congregations, and some conversions and accessions, but I have not been informed as to numbers. Seventy-five dollars have been expended in papering and improving the church.
Oakdale, one of our most important charges, has had another year of growth, all departments of church work being well cared for. An addition, in the form of an L has been added to the church, connecting with main auditorium by sliding doors, and cost $522, all of which has been provided for except about, $50.
There have been fifty conversions and as many accessions.
John Crews is closing his second year.
O'Neill is one of the largest and most progressive towns on the district, and our church is making rapid advance. A neat parsonage containing five rooms has been erected at cost of $600, and paid for with the exception of $50. A gracious revival in which the pastor was aided by Rev. J. J. Walters of Central Illinois Conference, resulted in:
Twenty conversions.
Twenty-four accessions.
The church has been reseated and otherwise improved it a cost of about $100. F. Ellis, pastor.
The church at Osmond has rapidly come to the front and is thoroughly established. There have been some conversions and, some accessions. The most improved opera chairs have been placed in the church and the church replastered and repapered at a cost of $400. B. B. Keister is pastor.
On the Paddock charge a new church has been erected at a cost of $700, and was dedicated by the Presiding Elder assisted by Rev. B. Blain, Rev. Wm. Slothower, former pastor, and the present pastor, Rev. J. W. Kern. The entire claim was provided for. There have been good revivals, resulting in:
Thirty-five conversions.
Nineteen accessions.
Page and Inman is a charge of six appointments, requiring preaching three times every Sabbath. Thirty-five conversions partly tell the story of the year's work. H. H. St. Louis, pastor.
At Pierce our little flock has held together well, though pressed by a large burden of debt and other discouragements. There have been:
Twelve conversions.
Ten accessions.
One hundred and twenty dollars paid on old debts. A new bell has been purchased and paid for at cost of $100. Other improvements made to the amount of $50.
J. H. Wilcox is closing his second year.

MINUTES OF NORTH NEBRASKA CONFERENCE. Petersburg seems to be gradually passing into the hands of the Catholics, so that though our church is the only Protestant church ther, it is difficult to make progress under the circumstances. A heavy debt is pressing them and they have been discouraged. Rev. Mr. Wain was appointed to this charge, but the labor required was too much, and at his own request he was changed to Ewing. After a delay of three months I employed Rev. W. H. Newman to serve as a supply. There have been:
Fifteen conversions.
Ten accessions, and improvements on church property to the amount of $75.
Of Plainview it must be said that another year has been added to the series of successful ones. Last year their debts were reduced to zero. This year the membership has been doubled. This is due in part to a gracious revival. resulting in:
Fifty-five conversions.
Sixty-five accessions.
The pastor was aided by Miss May Phillips. The church has been repapered and painted at a cost of $175. Another factor in the achievement of these results was the excellent wife the pastor, E. R. Adriance, took to himself early in the year.
Plainview circuit has been supplied by Rev. Wm. Slothower, and has had a year of substantial and healthy growth. with some conversions.
Reservation charge has made good progress under the pastorate of Rev. C. T. Adams. who has supplied it. Besides, twenty conversions and thirty-five accessions, the field has been organized, and a new church projected, which we hope to see finished by winter.
Savage charge has held its own under the pastoral care of Rev. W. Stanner. Some improvements have been made on parsonage property. Bro. Stanner has been somewhat hindered by the long and painful illness of his wife.
Though alphabetically Tilden and Meadow Grove charge comes last, it is not therefore least. Numerically it is the largest charge on the district and has made a good record on all lines, as the following facts will show. revivals at two points in which the pastor, Bro. Hosman was assisted by Miss Phillips resulted in:
One hundred conversions.
One hundred assessions.
A new bell and other improvements at Tilden, amounting to $162.
All indebtedness against the Churches at Tilden and Meadow Grove amounting to $760 paid in full. E. E. Hosmon, pastor.
This record of success in the individual charges fittingly culminated in a glorious camp meeting held on the old camp grounds at Oak-

dale. which like all the others seemed to most of us the best of the series. Besides the pastors of the district and some visiting brethren, we were aided by Rev. J. J. Walters, who had charge of the evangelical work. Miss Phillips was with us part of the time and rendered good service. Besides the quickening of the spiritual life or believers, there were at least seventy conversions.
An enthusiastic District Epworth League convention was held at Oakdale in April. It was well attended and showed that much has already been done along this line, and gave promise of much more to follow.
There were two District Conferences held during the year. The first one was well attended. and among its marked features was an enthusiastic missionary meeting addressed by J. H. Frazer. D. R. Collings and Wm. Gorst. I think in no small measure we must attribute to the influence of this meeting the 15 per cent. increase in missionary collections which we hope to report this year.
At our first session charges were preferred against J. Delos Wilson, a local elder, by Wm. Gorst and D. R. Collings, a committee appointed by a previous district conference to investigate and see whether there were grounds for complaint. The case was referred to a select number, which met at Ewing and tried the case, finding the accused guilty as charged. and he was expelled from the ministry of the M. E. church. I herewith submit the records of the trial.
With high appreciation of the faithful and efficient services of the pastors. and devout thanksgiving to God for his blessing, I respectfully submit this report.
