EDUCATIONAL COMMISSION.
The Commission appointed by the last Nebraska Annual Conference and to which was referred the matter of receiving and investigating propositions for the location and establishment of a Conference College and one or more Conference Seminaries beg leave to report:
That after a careful examination of the whole subject it is their opinion that any attempt to locate or establish a college within the bounds of this Conference in the present numerical and financial condition would defeat the ends we strive to attain.
We would therefore recommend that one good Conference Seminary be located and established as soon as practicable and that in order to achieve the largest possible results, a board of nine Conference Trustees be chosen, five of whom shall be preachers and four laymen, to whom shall be entrusted full powers to accept propositions, receive and control donations of lands or moneys and determine upon the relative merits of such locations as shall be recommended by this Conference and that the said Board of Trustees be instructed to make full report of their action at the State Convention and also at the next Annual Conference.
In the prosecution of our investigation, propositions have been received from Papillion, Bellevue, Lincoln, Pawnee City, Weeping Water and Ashland, each of which has its advantages. After the most careful and thorough investigation possible, however, to the Commission, it was decided that the choice lay between Bellevue and Ashland. And it is therefore further recommeded (sic),
That these places be invited to perfect and legalize their propositions and submit them at the earliest practicable moment to the consideration of the Trustees aforesaid.
It is also recommended that the Board of Trustees be authorized to take such measures as in their wisdom shall be deemed prudent and just to secure donations in moneys, lots, lands or other property in aid of such Seminary when once the location shall have been determined upon and if necessary to employ an agent for that purpose.

COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION.

Resolved, 1, That it is the duty of the State to furnish means for the elemental education of all the children within its bounds, and to require parents and guardians to give their children and those committed to their care the advantages of the facilities provided.
2. That the higher departments of education should be committed to the Christian Church and supported by voluntary contributions.
3. if the State furnish any aid to church schools it should be proportioned to the numbers educated in each institution.
4. That we recommend a committee of three be appointed to visit the Prairie Institute at its examination and report at the next session of the Conference, and that we continue to give that institution our hearty support.
We also recommend that a committee of one be appointed to visit Garret Biblical Institute and report at the next session of the Conference.

TRACT CAUSE.
WHEREAS, The circulation of Religious Tracts has proven to be an efficient instrumentality in the encouragement of believers in the faith and doctrines of the Gospel, and that they can be made a powerful instrument in the hands of the Church, of bringing sinners to God that cannot be reached through the pulpit, therefore,
Resolved, That as Ministers of the Gospel we will be more active in the circulation of our tracts, and that we will take up a collection for that purpose at an early period.

MINUTES OF THE NEBRASKA CONFERENCE. |
We regard the Sunday School as that department of the church which seeks by thorough instruction in the word of God, to promote growth in grace and efficiency in christian labor, among both the adults and the children of the church.
We believe that as Methodists we should everywhere organize Sunday Schools under our own name and jurisdiction.
We believe that every minister of this Conference would greatly increase his influence for good by identifying himself as far as practicable, with the schools on his charge, by occasional sermons, lectures and addresses in the line of Sunday School study and labor, by special meetings for training his teachers, by week evening classes for thoroughly drilling the children of the church in our catechisms, etc
We express our hearty approval of the Sunday School Union of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and pledge ourselves to a heartier support of its benevolent department.
We cordially recommend the introduction of the BEREAN series of Sunday School Lessons into all our schools, the circulation of the SUNDAY SCHOOL JOURNAL among all our teachers and older scholars, and of the SUNDAY SCHOOL ADVOCATE among the children.
We recognize the plan of distributing HOME ENVELOPES, as proposed by the Corresponding Secretary, as one well calculated to reach the neglected and irreligious families of our land, and promise to co-operate with the Union by reporting the names and post-office addresses of such families as may be thus approached.
To the Sunday School workers of this Conference and to all our people old and young, we say: "Let the WORD OF CHRIST dwell in you richly"; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another; in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord"--hold forth the Word of Life and seek the constant presence of the Master in the Family, the Sanctuary and the School.
