§From Ruttenburg's History of Newburgh, N. Y., 1859, we copy the following items, which must refer to Benjamin and Charles Halstead, brothers, on page 4 of the January issue.

"Enoch Carter, from whom the family of Newburgh decends was a native of Philadelphia, a Quaker by creed, his sister Mary was the second wife of Adolph DeGrove, * * *

"Enoch Carter married Sarah Rivers, a widowed daughter of Adolph DeGrove, by his first wife, and had six children. Their fourth child, Mary, married Benjamin Halstead, eldest brother of the late Capt. Charles Halstead, of Newburgh. She died in her 29th year leaving one child, Margaret R. Halstead, now the wife of Samuel T. Callahan of New York."

In the same volume Charles Halstead, jr., is referred to as superintendent of the Newburgh Gas Light Co., and as treasurer of the Newburgh Savings Bank in 1859. This most likely refers to Charles, son of Charles, on page 4.

Correction: Where Charles Halstead of the first paragraph in "Second Generation" his date should be the same as it is in the list of children above.
