Secretary of War, began the erection of a two-story building for a
trading post near the mouth of the Platte in the spring of 1853.
This was known as the "Old Barracks" and was the beginning of

CHARLES WATERS JENNINGS BIBLE RECORD.

This Bible was the property
of Charles W. Jennings and is now owned by his granddaughter, Mrs.
Mary Bryan Allen, who is the daughter of Silas Lillard Bryan and
Maria Elizabeth Jennings. The Bible was published by Thomas Mason
and George Lane, 1837. The entries were made by different persons.
MARRIAGES
Charles Jennings and Maria Davidson were married the 14
December 1826.
Robert D. Noleman and Sarah Ann Jennings were married on the
22nd of Aug. A. D. 1847.
Benjamin F. Marshall and Harriet R. Jennings were married Nov.
21 in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty
- 1850.
Josephus Jennings and Amanda Couch were married Nov. 24th in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty -
1850
In the Commonwealth of Illinois. Silas Lillard Bryan and Mariah

Sarah Ann Noleman died March 12th A. D. 1859. In the 30th year
of age.
America J. Stites Died September 27th A. D. 1861. In the twenty
sixth year of her life.
Charles W. Jennings Died August 18th 1872 A. D. Aged 70 years 7
months and one day.
Mariah W. Davidson, born in Kentucky Dec 15th 1802 and was
Married to Charles W. Jennings the 14th of December 1826. Mariah
W. Jennings was born December 15th 1802 and died April 3rd 1885.
She joined Methodist Church at the old Walnut Hill about 1832,
under the preaching of Zedock Casey.
Josephus Jennings died at his home near Walnut Hill, Ill. Nov.
20 1890.
Maria Elizabeth Jennings Bryan died in Salem, Ills. June 27th
1896, after an illness of nine months. age 62 years.
Harriet R. Jennings Marshall died in Salem, Ills. May 3rd 1901,
aged 69 years.
Mary Doshephene Jennings Van Antwerp died May 28 1920.
Nancy Carrigan Jennings Davenport died Oct. 11th 1921.
Zeddoc Casy Jennings died July 4th 1922.

These are companion volumes to the two books by Mr. Tetrick,
mentioned in the January number for the current year. The name of
every free man, woman and child, with age and state where born, is
given. Some of the surnames in the first mentioned book,
represented by ten or more heads of families, are Bailey, Bennett,
Brake, Casto, Cutright, Fisher, Flesher, Hindzman, Phillips, Post,
Reger, Rohrbaugh, Strader, Tenney and Westfall. In the other book
are Bailey, Bartlett, Bennett, Chrislip, Clevenger, Currey,
England, Finley, Gainer, Goodwin, Hall, Hudkins, Keener, McDaniel,
Male, Martin, Moore, Phillips, Poe, Poling, Reed, Rogers, Simon,
Sturm, and Teter. Every genealogical library should have these
books. It is to be hoped that the sales will be sufficient to
encourage Mr. Tetrick to continue this work.
