Lathrop at Kimball. Mrs. Bergman was born at Prescott, Iowa. November 9, 1893. They have eight children, all living, Raymond, born May 22, 1914; Harold, June 15, 1916; Jessie, February 28, 1918; Joan, March 1, 1920; Edwin, February 24, 1921; Ralph, July 12, 1923; Betty, November 22, 1924; and William, July 26, 1926, Residence: Kimball.

Bernie D. Berkheimer

Bernie D. Berkheimer, banker, was born at Ashland, Nebraska, December 23, 1895, son of Adam and Alice J. (Donner) Berkheimer. Both parents were born in the United States, the paternal grandparents being Dutch and the maternal being German.

Upon his graduation from Ashland High School, Mr. Berkheimer attended Bellevue College and the University of Nebraska. He has engaged in the lumber business in Gordon and Casper, Wyoming, and since 1919 has been in the banking business at Gordon. He enlisted in the Coast Artillery Corps, December 14, 1917, and was commissioned a second lieutenant of Coast Artillery, on July 26, 1918.

On June 16, 1919, he was married to Regina Grace Fritz at Gordon, Nebraska. She was born there on April 2, 1894. They have one son, Richard Lee, born May 17, 1927.

Mr. Berkheimer is a Republican. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gordon, the Masonic Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Kiwanis Club. His favorite sport is golf. Residence: Gordon.

Henriette Bernstein

Henriette Bernstein, county superintendent of schools of Hall County, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska, July 28, 1894. She is the daughter of Henry and Anna (Dumke) Bodmer, the former a chemist of Swiss ancestry, and the latter of German ancestry.

Mrs. Bernstein attended the public schools of Grand Island and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand Island College in 1926. She was also a student at Boulier University. From 1912-18 she taught in the public schools of Hall County, and from 1919-20 was engaged in secretarial work. Returning to the teaching profession in 1922, she continued therein until 1926, when she was elected to her present position as county superintendent.

She is affiliated with the English Lutheran Church and was recently made a life member of The Nebraskana Society. Her favorite sports are hunting, fishing and golf and her hobby is gardening. Residence: Grand Island.

Alice Virginia Berryman

Alice Virginia (Davis) Berryman was born at North Platte, Nebraska, December 5, 1889. She is the daughter of George Warren and Alice (Clark) Davis. Her father, a farmer, was manager of the Barton farm in Sarpy County until his death at Omaha, on October 28, 1923. She is of Mayflower ancestry, and an aunt Mary Smith Lockwood, was one of the three founders of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her ancestors were among the founders of Smith College. Mrs. Berryman is a niece of Mrs. Guy Barton of Omaha.

Educated in the Omaha public schools, Mrs. Berryman was graduated from the South Omaha High School with honors; she studied in Paris with Swayne, a pupil of Leschetizky, in Switzerland, and with Rudolph Ganz. She made her New York debut in 1915 at the Princess Theatre, and has appeared in individual recitals both in this country and abroad, and in joint recitals with Mr. Berryman in the east and the middlewestern states. She has also given two concerts in Paris. She was formerly head of the piano normal training department of the University Conservatory of Omaha, and now has a private piano class.

Her marriage to Cecil Wells Berryman was solemnized at Omaha, December 19, 1916, (see Nebraskana). Mrs. Berryman is the author of numerous articles for the Musical Observer, Music News and others. She is a member of the P. E. O., of the Omaha Clef Club, the Nebraska State Teachers Association and The Omaha Music Teachers Association. She is a Presbyterian and is eligible to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her hobby is gardening. Residence: Omaha.

Cecil Wells Berryman

For the past 15 years Cecil W. Berryman has been leading Nebraska pianist and recitalist. Born at Central City, Nebraska, April 21, 1888, he is the son of Edward Price and Daisy (Wells) Berryman. His father, born at Owensboro, Kentucky, April 22, 1862, died at Omaha, December 10, 1924. He was descended from early English settlers in Virginia. During his lifetime he served as colonel on the staff of Governor Shallenberger, and was a member of the Omaha park board. Daisy (Wells) Berryman, who is living, was born at Janesville, Wisconsin November 4, 1865. She is of English and French descent, a musician and teacher of piano.

Cecil W. Berryman was graduated from Central High School at Omaha. In 1910 he studied piano, composition and theory in Paris with Wager Swayne and Emile Schwartz of the Paris Conservatoire Nationale. In 1916, he was married to Alice Virginia Davis, likewise a musician. Mrs. Berryman was born at North Platte, December 5, 1889, and before her marriage was a teacher of piano, and is at present teacher of normal classes at the University of Omaha. There are three children, Edward, born February 8, 1920; Warren, born February 24, 1922, and Rudolph, born February 25, 1929. The children are musically inclined, and the two older ones have given five public recitals.

Before his marriage Mr. Berryman gave many recitals in Paris, and in the east and midwest. Since then he has appeared with Mrs. Berryman in many joint recitals. He is the author of a song recorded by Victor, and of many articles in Etude and Musical Observer. He has written many piano compositions, concerto, violin sonata, songs, etc. From 1916-18 he was music critic for the Omaha Nebraskan. He was formerly head of the department of piano and theory, University Conservatory of Music at Omaha, and is now private instructor of piano and composition.

Mrs. Berryman made her New York debut in 1915, and like her husband is the author of many musical articles. Her great aunt was one of the founders of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is descended also from the founder of Smith College.

Mr. Berryman's sister, Elizabeth Gagnebin, born August 23, 1895, is a graduate of Omaha University. She took post graduate work at Chicago University, and has been a teacher in the department of dietetics at Technical High School for ten years.

During the year 1907 Mr. Berryman was first lieutenant in the Central High School Band. He is affiliated with the Omaha Clef Club, and has served as president and treasurer. He is a member of the Nebraska Writers Guild. He was formerly a member and vice president of the Nebraska State Music Teachers' Association and member of the board of directors of the Omaha Music Teachers' Association. He is a member of Wheeler Memorial Presbyterian Church. His hobby is hiking with his family. Residence: Omaha.

Hans P. Bertelsen, retired clergyman, was born Denmark, February 15, 1846, son of Bertel Paulsen and Anna Marguerite (Hansen) Bertelsen.
