ha, Nebraska, 1908. He taught school in Ohio, 1894-1900, was a teacher at Wood River and Phillips, 1900-06, and has since been in the drug business. Since 1914, he has been a pharmacist at Grand Island, Nebraska, where he holds an interest in two drug stores.

He was the first president of the Grand Island Cosmopolitan Club, served on the local school board, president 1919 to 1921, and holds membership in the Chamber of Commerce, the Grand Island Credit Association and the Nebraska Pharmaceutical Association. Mr. Bowen is a Mason and is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Island. His hobby is flower gardening and his social club is the Woodland Golf Club. He is a Republican.

His marriage to Bertha Brown occurred at Cody, Wyoming, March 4, 1912. Mrs. Bowen, whose father was a captain in the Civil War, was born of English ancestry at Champagne, Illinois, August 26, 1876. They have one daughter, Harriet, born September 28, 1913, who attended Lindenwood College for Women, and is now a student at the University of Nebraska. Residence: Grand Island. Charles Arthur Bowers

A leader in Nebraska's educational field, Charles Arthur Bowers, was born at Beatrice, Nebraska, December 4, 1890, son of Edward Franklin and Della (Lupher) Bowers. His father, who was a pioneer minister in the United Brethren Church in Nebraska, was born at Saugerties, New York, January 17, 1854, and died at York, Nebraska, April 6, 1906; he was presiding elder of the eastern Nebraska district at various times. His father, who was of German descent, was also a clergyman.

His mother was born near Monmouth, Illinois, December 17, 1864, of Pennsylvania Dutch parentage, and died at York, June 24, 1924. She was a rural school teacher in Saline County, Nebraska, before her marriage and served as state president of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the United Brethren Church in later years. Her ancestors were farmers in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Bowers attended the public school of York, and in 1909, was graduated from York Academy. He was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree at York College in 1913. At this time he has completed the requirement for a Master of Arts degree which will be granted him from the University of Nebraska during the next year. He holds membership in Omicron Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa of the University of Nebraska.

His professional career is as follows: teacher of science and athletic coach at St. Edward, Nebraska, 1914; superintendent of schools at Cowles, Nebraska, 1915-17; instructor in science and history at the Nebraska School of Agriculture, Curtis, Nebraska, 1919-21; superintendent of public schools at Exeter, Nebraska, 1921-26; and superintendent of schools at Ord, Nebraska, 1926-30. He is now superintendent of schools at Holdrege, Nebraska, where he is also active in civic affairs.

Mr. Bowers is a member of the Holdrege Chamber of Commerce, is past president of the Ord Chamber of Commerce, is past president of the Ord Rotary Club, and holds membership in the Holdrege Rotary Club. He is a life member of the National Educational Association, is vice president of District Five of the Nebraska State Teachers Association, and is a contributing member of the Young Men's Christian Association. He is affiliated with the First Methodist Episcopal Church and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society and the Nebraska State Historical Society. On February 1, 1932, Mr. Bowers became executive secretary of the Nebraska State Teachers Association at Lincoln, where he now resides.

During the World War he was commissioned first lieutenant of Infantry and was assigned to active duty at Camp Dodge, Iowa, December 15, 1917. He served in France for ten months and participated in the battles of Haute-Alsace and Meuse-Argonne. He is a member of the executive committee of Martin Horn Post Number 66 of the American Legion, and is past commander Fidelity Post Number 38 of Ord.

On June 18, 1918, he was married to Elma Grace Squires, at Hastings. Mrs. Bowers, who was a teacher prior to her marriage, was born near Fairfield, Nebraska May 9, 1890, of English parentage. They have four children: John Edward, born October 12, 1920; Elma Jean, born December 30, 1923; Robert Squires, born September 7, 1925; and Gretchen Mae, born July 16, 1930. Residence: Holdrege. Frank Earl Bowers

Frank E. Bowers, educator and school executive, has lived in Nebraska for the past 45 years. He was born a Frankton, Indiana, March 26, 1883, the son of William Anderson and Harriet Virginia (Helsley) Bowers.

His father, who was a farmer and voice instructor, was born at Sulphur Springs, Indiana, March 6, 1852, and died at Pickrell, Nebraska, July 28, 1930; his ancestry was German. His mother was born at Timberville, Virginia, February 14, 1853, and died at Franklin, March 26, 1911. Her German ancestors emigrated to the Virginia Colony prior to the Revolution.

Mr. Bowers attended the rural schools of Gage and Franklin counties; was graduated from the high school at Odell, Nebraska, 1902; and received a diploma at the Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru, 1913. He was a student at the University of Nebraska, 1928-30, where he held membership in Phi Delta Kappa.

He has held the following positions: teacher in rural schools, 1902-06; superintendent of the Rockford Schools, 1907-09; superintendent of public schools at Barnston, Nebraska, 190912; superintendent of schools at Papillion, Nebraska, 1913-18; superintendent of schools at Arapahoe, Nebraska, 1921-27. He was engaged in the implement retail business from 1919-21. Since 1927 he has been state supervisor in secondary education in the office of the state superintendent of public instruction.

On August 29, 1906, he was married to Bessie Belle Sharp at Liberty, Gage County, Nebraska. Mrs. Bowers was born at Liberty, July 11, 1884. Their two children are: Doren W., born June 4, 1909; and Loree E., born May 10, 1915.

During 1918 and 1919 Mr. Bowers served overseas with the American Young Men's Christian Association. He was county director of the Boys Working Reserve in Sarpy County, during the war, and served as a member of the Advisory Registration Board, 1917-18. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society, the State Historical Society, the Odd Fellows, and the Masons. He has been a member of the Nebraska State Teachers Association since 1921, and in 1925 was district president of this organization in district five. He served as president of the Nebraska State Declamatory Association, 1923-24, was scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America, 1923-25, and held membership in the Red Cross, 1922-27. He is a Republican. He is interested in all out of door sports and is fond of reading. Residence: Lincoln.

Harry Eugene Bowman

On September 10, 1870, Harry Eugene Bowman was born at Lathrop, Missouri. His parents, Vincent and Elizabeth (Calder) Bowman, were natives of Ohio. Vincent Bowman was born in Brown County, January 19, 1831, where his family engaged in farming. He served for a short time as judge of the probate court, and die at San Antonio, Texas, December 7, 1913. His father was born in Amherst County, Virginia, in 1792, and his father's father in England. His father's grandfather was born in Switzerland.

and died at Cameron, Missouri, April 28, 1907. Her father was a native of Scotland, born in 1785.

Educated first in country school, Harry Eugene Bowman graduated from Missouri Wesleyan College (now Baker University, Baldwin, Kansas), in 1892, and attended business college at Cameron, Missouri. In 1892 Mr. Bowman became a bookkeeper in a lumber yard at Lawrence, Nebraska, from 1894 until 1910 he was manager of the business, and from 1910 to 1914 engaged in the milling business. For the last seventeen years he has been in real estate loans and insurance, and at present is the owner of H. E. Bowman and Company at Hastings.

He is also a stockholder in the Hastings National Bank, and the owner of several farms.

On June 19, 1895, he was united in marriage to Effie Mae Fitch at Lawrence, Nebraska. She was born in Mason County, West Virginia, August 2, 1869, and died at Hastings, February 17, 1926. Her father, a Kentuckian, served in the Civil War. Mr. Bowman was married July 3, 1928, to Bess Phillips, at Mankato, Minnesota. Mrs. Bowman was born at Patoka, Illinois, January 23, 1887.

A Republican, Mr. Bowman was a member of the Nebraska legislature the session of 1905-06, and from 1918-28, was a member of the Hastings city council. During the late war he was active in all civilian projects, and from 1926-32 has been a director of the local chapter of the Red Cross.

Mr. Bowman is one of Hastings outstanding citizens, and is a leader in all efforts toward the betterment of his city and state. In 1930 he was president of the Chamber of Commerce, and since 1920 he has been a member of its board of directors. From 1906-14 he served as a member of the Lawrence School Board. He is affiliated with the First Methodist Episcopal Church, is a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Shrine, and is a member of the Young Men's Christian Association. Charles Johnston Boyd

Charles Johnston Boyd, a resident of Nebraska for the past 30 years, was born at Des Moines, Iowa, April 30, 1866, the son of Cyrus and Maggie (Johnston) Boyd. His father, who was born in Ohio, May 27, 1837, and died at Omaha, Nebraska, July 22, 1914, was a veteran of the Civil War and served as county clerk of Brown County, Nebraska; his ancestry was Scotch and Irish. His mother, whose ancestry was English and Scotch, was born at Keokuk, Iowa, May 13, 1840, and died at Ainsworth, Nebraska, August 12, 1898.

Mr. Boyd attended the public school until 1879, and far a number of years was a railroad agent and dispatcher. He has been engaged in the nursery and orchard business far the past 30 years at Ainsworth, and holds membership in the Nebraska State Horticultural Society. His hobby is reading.

He was united in marriage with Mary Addie Fowler at Dennison, Ohio, December 28, 1911. Mrs. Boyd was born of English parents in Iowa, April 21, 1872, and died at Ainsworth, May 28, 1929. They have a daughter, Margaret, born August 30, 1912. Residence: Ainsworth.

James William Boyd

James William Boyd, a lifetime resident of Nebraska, is the son of James Archibald and May (Robertson) Boyd. He was born at Kearney, Nebraska, July 15, 1896, for many years has been active in business and civic affairs in his community. His father, who was born at Morrison, Illinois, was cashier of the Farmers State Bank at Kearney for 40 years, and is now retired from the banking business. His mother, an active club worker and church leader, was born at Morrison, of Scotch parentage.

Mr. Boyd was graduated from the Kearney High School in 1914, and from Culver Military Academy in 1915. He was a student at the University of Nebraska, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and the Iron Sphinx, was chairman of the Freshman Hop, and was awarded the freshman scholarship cup of Phi Gamma Delta in 1917. From 1919 to 1925, Mr. Boyd was teller in the Farmers State Bank at Kearney, and since that date has been part owner and manager of the Golden Eagle Clothing Store there.

He is a member of the Kearney Chamber of Commerce, the Kearney Country Club, and the First Presbyterian Church. He is a Mason, holds membership in the Pinochle Club, and is interested in golfing, swimming, hunting, and fishing. His hobby is reading. On June 21, 1917, he enlisted in the United States Army, sailed for France the following month and was line sergeant for the remainder of the World War. He is a member of the American Legion as executive committeeman, and is a member of the Veterans of the Foreign Wars.

He was united in marriage with Nan Henrietta Mattson, at Wahoo, Nebraska, February 18, 1930. Mrs. Boyd, who was a private secretary prior to her marriage, was born in Sweden in 1903. Mr. Boyd has one daughter by a former marriage, Bobette, born March 25, 1919, who is a student at Brownell Hall in Omaha. Residence: Kearney.

Joseph Wesley Boyd

Joseph W. Boyd, lawyer, was born at Eckley, Colorado, November 3, 1894, and for twenty-eight years has resided in Nebraska. The son of Robert James and Barbara Elizabeth (Schwerer) Boyd, his father was a farmer and stockraiser. Robert J. Boyd was born in Newark, New Jersey, January 22, 1853, of a Scotch father and Irish mother. He died at Trenton, January 26, 1922. His wife, Barbara, was born at Blandinsville, Illinois, January 7, 1858, and is still living. Her parents were immigrants from Germany.

Educated in the public and high schools of Trenton, Nebraska, Joseph W. Boyd was graduated in May, 1913, and was a letterman there three years in basketball, baseball and football. He attended Peru State Teachers College, where he won first prize on the junior debating team, was editor in chief of the Peruvian (1916), and earned letters in football, basketball and baseball (1915-16). In January, 1923, Mr. Boyd was awarded his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nebraska, with Order of the Coif. He is a member of Delta Theta Phi.

During 1916-17, Mr. Boyd was athletic coach and teacher of mathematics in the David City High School, and from 1917-20 was a farmer. From March, 1923, until January, 1924, he was engaged in the practice of law at Norfolk, and since the last date has practiced at Superior. For a time prior to 1926, he was a member of the law firm of Agee, Kiechel and Boyd, but since then has been in private practice. A Republican, he was defeated in the primary election of 1930 for nomination as county attorney, and at the present time is precinct chairman of the Nuckolls County central committee.

His marriage to Gladys Chaney was solemnized at Riverton, Iowa, July 10, 1917. Mrs. Boyd was born at Riverton, January 3, 1896. There is one child living and one deceased: Don Allison, born April 7, 1926: and Eleanor Joan, born August 12, 1924, who died July 5, 1925.

Mr. Boyd's religious affiliation is with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Since April, 1924, he has been a member of the Kiwanis Club, and for five years he served as secretary of the local club. At the present time he is lieutenant governor of Division V. Nebraska-Iowa District of Kiwanis International. Robert Catron Boyd

Since November 22, 1884, Robert C. Boyd has been a resident of Nemaha County. Born at Upton, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, October 25, 1866, he is the son of Robert James and Susan C. (White) Boyd. Robert Boyd was born in southern Pennsylvania, January 4, 1834, and until about 25 years before his death was a merchant. During the Civil War he was captain of a regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry. He was of Scotch-Irish descent, the family being early settlers in Pennsylvania. Susan C. White was a native of Fulton County, Pennsylvania. Her father was English, and her mother of German birth. Her father was a physician. She died at Upton, Pennsylvania, August 20, 1897, while Robert J. Boyd died at Upton, December 30, 1922.

On April 24, 1890, Robert C. Boyd was married to Lillie B. Angle, at Welsh Run, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Boyd was a native of Welsh Run, born July 21, 1868. She is an active worker in the Presbyterian Church, and in welfare and community affairs. She is a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. They have four children: Avis Angle, born February 6, 1891. Avis attended Stout Institute, was graduated from Bellevue College, and studied at Johns Hopkins University. She married William C. Atwater, and is active in the League of Women Voters, the Y. W. C. A., and the Woman's Club. She lives at Springfield, Massachusetts.

The second child, Mary Jane, was born June 28, 1895. She was graduated from South Institute, attended Nebraska University for one year, and has taught school in Nebraska and Minnesota, and is now home demonstration agent at Blue Earth, Minnesota. William N., born July 8, 1899, attended Mercersburg Academy (Pennsylvania) one year, and is special agent for the American Fire Insurance Company at Fremont. He is married to Carrie Hanks, and is the father of two sons.

John C., born December 26, 1905, attended Mercersburg Academy three years, Roxbury School at Cheshire, Massachusetts, one year, and is employed in the Carson National Bank.

Mr. Boyd is a Republican, and has served as secretary of the Republican county central committee and was a member of the state Republican central committee one term.

Entering the banking business upon his arrival in Nebraska forty-six years ago, Mr. Boyd has remained in it ever since. He started as bookkeeper, and is now cashier of the Carson National Bank. He is also president of the First National Bank at Johnson, Nebraska.

During the World War he was active in the sale of bonds, in which his bank went over the top in each drive, and was active in Red Cross work and other drives. He has been affiliated with the Presbyterian Church for many years and is an elder. He is a member of the Y. M. C. A., and president of the Nemaha area of the Boy Scouts of America, which embraces five counties. For the past eight years he has been treasurer of the local Red Cross organization, and is now president of the Kiwanis Club. He is a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Shrine, and a life member of the Lincoln Lodge of the Elks. He is also an Odd Fellow and member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen. His social club is the Auburn Country, and his hobby is golf. Residence: Auburn.

Robert James Boyd

Robert James Boyd, postmaster at Trenton, Nebraska, was born at Yuma, Colorado, February 24, 1893, and has resided in Nebraska for the past 28 years.

His father, Robert James Boyd, Sr., was born at Patterson, New Jersey, January 22, 1853, and died at Trenton, Nebraska, January 26, 1923. He was a lumberman and business man of Scotch-Irish descent. His Wife, Barbara Elizabeth Schwerer, was born at Blandinsville, Illinois, January 6, 1859, and is still living at Trenton, Nebraska. Her ancestry is German.

Mr. Boyd attended the public schools, was graduated from high school and from the state normal school at Peru, Nebraska, in 1915. For two years thereafter he taught in Elmwood, Nebraska, High School. He then farmed for seven years near Trenton, Nebraska. For the past eight years he has been postmaster of Trenton.

During the late war Mr. Boyd served overseas one year as a private in the 137th Regiment, 35th Division He participated in the St. Mihiel Offensive; Meuse Argonne Offensive; Sondernach Offensive; and served on two sectors. He is a member of the American Legion past commander of Stellges-Baker Post No. 337, past adjutant, and finance officer of his local post. He is member of the League of Postmasters, the Commercial Club, and the Masons, a member of King Cyrus Chapter No. 35, Royal Arch Masons in McCook, Nebraska, and St. John Commandery No. 16, Knights Templar.

On June 25, 1919, he was married to Maude Harrison at Gering, Nebraska. Mrs. Boyd, who is of English and German ancestry, was born at Trenton, Nebraska, February 25, 1898. They have two children, Geraldine, born June 9, 1920; and Leonard, born June 6, 1924. Residence: Trenton.

Peter Friedrich Boyens

A pioneer furniture dealer at Plainview, Nebraska, Peter Friedrich Boyens was born in Germany, June 11, 1861, and has lived in Nebraska for the past 44 years. His father, Henry Boyens, who was a farmer, was born in Germany, and died at Denison, Iowa. His mother was born in Germany, and died at Denison.

Mr. Boyens is a mortician and furniture dealer, and holds membership in various civic organizations at Plainview, including Lions Club; the Commercial Club; the Red Cross; and the local undertakers society. He is affiliated with Zion Lutheran Church and holds membership in the Plainview Country Club. His favorite sport is golfing.

On October 7, 1894, he was united in marriage at Creighton, Nebraska, with Bertha Looft. Mrs. Boyens was born in Germany. Politically, Mr. Boyens is a Republican. Residence: Plainview.

William R. Boyer

William R. Boyer physician and surgeon, was born at Lena, Stephenson County, Illinois, April 2, 1871, and in 1882 came to Nebraska.

Dr. Boyer attended the public school, and was graduated from Falls City High School in 1886. He was graduated from the Hahnemann Medical College in 1894.

In 1916 he established the Pawnee Hospital, and in 1921 the Pawnee Medical Unit, by amalgamating all Pawnee City physicians into one firm. This association has continued for a period of eleven years.

Dr. Buyer is a member of the Pawnee County, Nebraska State, and American Medical Associations. He is also a member of the Nebraska State Historical Society. Residence: Pawnee City.

Clarence Clinton "Chick" Boyes

CIarence Clinton "Chick" Boyes, was born at Belleville, Kansas February 9, 1890, son of Herman Lee and Marila Catherine (Wagner) Boyes. His father was born in Geneva, New York, August 20, 1866 and has been postmaster of Hebron, for a number of years. His wife, Marila, was born in Oregon, Illinois, December 11, 1866, and since its organization in 1919, has been a member of the board of the Hebron Public Library. (See Nebraskana).

In 1909, Mr. Boyes was graduated from Hebron High School, and the following year attended the University of Nebraska. He was a school teacher for a short period, and musician and dramatic manager for the Hebron opera house and the picture theatre in 1914, 1915, and 1916. For one year, following, he was in Canada, and for five years in the United States with dramatic stock companies. Since that time, he has been the owner and manager of the Chick Boyes Players of Hebron.

He was married on July 8, 1914 to Florence Edna Gallant, at Hebron. She was born at Hebron, August 4, 1893, and is active in dramatic work with her husband.

Mr. Boyes is a Republican. He is a member of the Royal Highlanders, the Masons, and the Shrine, and a member of the Hebron Golf Club. His favorite sports are golf and hunting. Residence: Hebron. (Photograph in Album).

Herman Lee Boyes

Born at Geneva, New York, August 20, 1866, Herman Lee Boyes is the son of William Henry and Eliza Sarah (Wolverton) Boyes. His father, who was born at Monterey, New York, April 17, 1838, was a farmer and market gardener, who specialized in growing potatoes, at Geneva. He went west with Horace Greeley, came back in a stage coach and settled on a homestead in Republic County, Kansas, in 1870. His ancestry was English on the paternal side, his father having come to America in 1805. His mother, who was Irish came to the United States at the age of 19. William Henry Boyes died at Hebron, Nebraska, in October, 1923.

Eliza Sarah Wolverton was born at Tyrone, New York, October 8, 1842. After her graduation from Starkey Seminary, at Geneva, she taught school, first in New York State and later in Kansas, and was a member of the Teachers County Examination board. Her father was born in Germany and her mother in France. They were married in the United States. Eliza Wolverton Boyes died at Hebron, December 19, 1904.

Educated in a sod school house in Republic County, Kansas, Herman L. Boyes attended County Teachers Institute in Republic County, at Belleville, Kansas. Born on s farm, he engaged in farming and market gardening at Belleville and at Hebron until 1900. Thereafter he spent five years as a traveling salesman, and in January 1906 was elected clerk of the district court of Thayer County, on the Republican ticket.

Continuing in that office until October 1, 1923, he resigned upon his appointment as postmaster. He served two terms as mayor of Hebron (1921-23), and is still serving as postmaster. Mr. Boyes has never been defeated in any election.

On November 15. 1887, he was united in marriage to Marila Catherine Wagner at Belleville. Mrs. Boyes, who was born at Oregon, Illinois, December 11, 1866, attended the Marysville, Missouri, High School and Academy. She was a school teacher and bookkeeper for a time prior to her marriage. A member of the library board since the library was organized, she has been its secretary since 1923. Her parents were born in Maryland, and her grandparents in Germany.

To them were born three children, two of whom are living: Clarence C. "Chick," was born at Belleville, February 9, 1890 He is married to Florence Gallant, and is an actor and the owner of the Chick Boyes Players. Bessie Belle, born October 1, 1888, is married to Walter Clarence Hess. They operate the Hebron Dairy Store. Floyd Lee, born June 11, 1891, died January 23, 1892. Prior to her marriage Bessie was a school teacher and postal clerk.

A Mason, Mr. Boyes is a member of the Royal Arch and Knight Templar bodies at Hebron, and Sesostris Temple of the Shrine at Lincoln. He is also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, the Royal Highlanders and the Odd Fellows. From 1899 to 1918 he was chief of the Hebron Fire Department, and in 1912 was president of the Nebraska State Volunteer Firemen's Association.

From 1914-16 Mr. Boyes was a member of the Hebron School board, and during the World War was a member of the Home Guard, active in loan and Red Cross drives, and was a member of the finance committee of the Red Cross at Hebron. He is a Methodist. A member of the Hebron Golf Club, he enjoys golf, baseball and hiking, while his hobbies are reading and mechanics. Residence: Hebron. (Photograph in Album).

William Edwin Boyes

Born at Belleville, Kansas, October 25, 1889, William Edwin Boyes is the son of Elmer Ellsworth and Rosalind (Thompson) Boyes. His father, a grocer and market gardener, was born at Geneva, New York, November 27, 1861, and died at Hebron, October 22, 1924. His grandfather came to America in 1805 from England. His wife, Rosalind was born at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, October 30, 1865, and traces her lineage to pre-Revolutionary settlers.

William E. Boyes was graduated from Hebron High School in June, 1908, attended the University of Nebraska two years, and was graduated from the voice department of the Hebron College School of Music in June 1926. For eighteen years he engaged in the grocery business with his father, and for the past three years he has been the owner of Boyes Bootery. He is also administrator of the E. E. Boyes Estate. For some time he has been a member of the park board.

On June 28, 1911, he was united in marriage to Bessie Bell Kleppinger at Fairmont. Mrs. Boyes was born at Carleton, Nebraska, April 13, 1890. There are three children: Phyllis, born July 27, 1912, was graduated from Hebron High School. She has graduated from Hebron College (teacher's and piano school) and is teaching at Morrill, Nebraska. William, Jr., born December 11, 1915, is a junior in high school, and assists his father in his business. Earl Melvin, who is an excellent pianist, is a freshman in high school.

Mr. Boyes is a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Masons, Order of Eastern Star and the Nebraskana Society. He has an exceptional voice, is fond of singing and amateur theatricals, and enjoys a game of golf occasionally. Residence: Hebron. (Photograph in Album).

Earl Mills Boyington

Earl Mills Boyington, banker, was born at Osawatomie, Kansas, September 29, 1893, the son of John and Alda (Syphrit) Boyington. His father died at Bird City, Kansas, in 1918. His mother died at Osawatomie, October 1, 1893.

Mr. Boyington was graduated from the Kemper Military School at Boonville, Missouri in 1911, attended Baker University at Baldwin, Kansas, and was a student in mechanical engineering at the University of Kansas.

He is treasurer of the local Young Men's Christian Association, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, and holds membership in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Modern Woodmen of America, and the Ancient Order of United Workmen.
