John Morris Boyle

John Morris Boyle, teacher, was born at Ralston, Oklahoma, May 13, 1902. He is the son of John and Cora Nettle (Bradley) Boyle, the former of Canadian birth and of Scotch-Irish descent. The mother was born in Illinois, daughter of J. D. Bradley, a veteran of the Civil War.

He attended grade school in Otoe and Pawnee Counties, Oklahoma, and Gordon, Nebraska, entering high school at Gordon, and graduating from Casper, Wyoming in 1923. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Nebraska in 1929.

On July 16, 1927, he was married to Zona Teasel Beutler at Humboldt, Nebraska. Mrs. Boyle was born at Humboldt, Nebraska, July 16, 1901. She attended the rural schools of Richardson County, Nebraska, graduating from the high school at Humboldt in 1919, later attending the state university with credits for three years work. Her parents were both born and raised near Humboldt, Nebraska, of Swiss descent. Mr. and Mrs. Boyle were the parents of one child, Sammy Gene, born June 8, 1929, who died in infancy.

During the school years of 1926-27-28, Mr. Boyle taught in the high school of Stella, Nebraska, and for the past two years has been superintendent of schools at Haigler, Nebraska. Previous to that time he was principal of the Haigler High School.

A regret expressed by Mr. Boyle is that during his school days he was unable to take an active part in the athletics of his school, because of his inability to spare the time from his other duties that enabled him to attend school and college.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Boyle are actively identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church in which they hold memebership (sic). Residence: Haigler.

William Lincoln Bozarth

For the past 48 years William L. Bozarth has lived in Nebraska where he has been successful in the business world. He was born at Chapin, Illinois, September 1, 1865, the son of John Carlack and Harriet (Tichnor) Bozarth. His father, who was a farmer and grain and livestock dealer, was born at Chapin, December 26, 1826, and died at San Jose, California, January, 1911; his ancestry was French. His mother was born in Chapin, Illinois, in 1832, and died at Beatrice, Nebraska, in 1901.

Mr. Bozarth received his education in the public schools. He has been retired from active business for several years and maintains his home at Hebron where he is chiefly interested in gardening and improving his lawn and grounds. Politically, he is a Democrat. Recently he was elected to membership in the Nebraskana Society.

He married Delana Poole at Beatrice, December 31, 1885; she was born at Chapin. May 2. 1836, of English parentage, and died at Long Beach, California, May 2, 1924. Four children were born to this marriage: Walter N., born January 29, 1888, who married Edith Tichnor; Genevieve G., born May 23, 1890, who married Christian W. Alschwede; Olive B., born January 26, 1892, who married H. B. Wright; and Elton P., born October 2, 1901, who is a physician. Walter N. and all his family were killed in an automobile accident August 23, 1931.

On October 16, 1925, Mr. Bozarth was married to Minnie R. Hyland at Stockton. Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Bozarth attend the First Presbyterian Church at Hebron. Residence: Hebron.

Waldorf Hartman Brach

Born at Hastings, Nebraska, March 11, 1895, Waldorf Hartman Brach is the son of William and Charlotte (Hartman) Brash. His father, a native of Germany born April 3, 1854, came to Racine, Wisconsin, in 1865 and to Nebraska in 1876. Here he was for many years in the mercantile business, for forty years as President of Wolbach & Brach. He died at Hastings, on Marsh 21 1921. His wife was born at Grand Rapids, Michigan: April 21, 1861.

Waldorf H. Brash attended the public schools of Hastings, and was graduated from high school there. At the present time he is president of Wolbach and Brach, and is a director of the Nebraska National Bank. During the World War he was sergeant of Company F, 35th Infantry, 89th Division, and is now a member of the American Legion.

On September 10, 1924, Mr. Brash was united in marriage to Helen Marie Youngson, at Minden. Mrs. Brach, who is of German and Danish extraction, was born at Minden. April 20, 1899. The family attends the Presbyterian Church at Hastings.

A Mason, Mr. Brash is a member of the Shrine, and belongs to the Elks and the Hastings Chamber of Commerce. Recently he was elected to life membership in the Nebraskana Society. He is a Democrat. Residence: Hastings.

Benjamin H. Bracken

Benjamin H. Bracken was born at Wallace, Kansas, August 16, 1888, the son of Reed P. and Floretta Jane (Erskine) Bracken. Reed P. Bracken, his father, was born in Pennsylvania, October 17, 1842; he served as a Civil War soldier; his Scotch ancestors came to this country prior to the Revolution. His mother, whose ancestry is English, was born in Ohio, December 16, 1854, and died at Hastings, Nebraska, November 30, 1926.

Mr. Bracken was graduated from the preparatory department of Emporia College in Kansas, was graduated from Hastings College with the B. S. degree in 1913, and in 1917, attended the college of law at the University of Nebraska. He served as superintendent of schools at Potter, Nebraska, 1914-16, was superintendent of schools at Minden, Nebraska, 1919-22, and since 1922, has been engaged in the practice of law at Minden, in the firm King & Bracken.

He was united in marriage with Helen Octavia Jones at Hastings, August 27, 1919. Mrs. Bracken, who was born at Hastings, December 16, 1893, is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; her ancestors were natives of New England and New York. Their children are: Octavia Jane, born October 30, 1923; and Benjamin Howard, born June 27, 1928.

He was president of the Community Commerce Club for two years and was director for a number of years, was president of the board of education, 1929-31, and was a charter member of the Minden Rotary club. He is amember of the Nebraska State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Masons, and the Knights of Pythias.

He is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Minden, and holds membership in the American Legion. During the World War he held the rank of second lieutenant, served in France, from 1917 to 1919, and was honorably discharged February 22 1919. He is a Republican. Residence: Minden.

Daniel Chester Bradbury

Daniel Chester Bradbury was born at Oskaloosa, Iowa, September 6, 1888, the son of Daniel and Mary (Conner) Bradbury. His father, who was a merchant, was born in

County Kent, England, in 1847, and died at Oskaloosa, February 12, 1921. His mother, who was of Scotch-Irish and Welsh ancestry, was born in Iowa, February 10, 1849, and died at Oskaloosa, March 16, 1927; she was the granddaughter of John Stanley.
Mr. Bradbury was graduated from the Oskaloosa High School in 1907, and studied a year at the University of Iowa. He served as manager of a clothing store at Albion, Iowa, for two years, and traveling salesman for a clothing firm for three years, and is now owner and manager of a cleaning plant at Alliance, Nebraska.

He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of which he is vice president, is past president of the Rotary Club, and holds, membership in the Masons and Elks. His social club is the Alliance Country Club of which he is director. He is affiliated with the American Legion, acting as post commander at Alliance.

His marriage to Jessie Garfield Andrew was solemnized at Chariton, Iowa, December 30, 1917. Mrs. Bradbury, whose father served in the Civil War, was born at Chariton, September 10, 1886. Residence: Alliance.

Leah Bellman Bradbury

Leah B. Bradbury was born at Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Mark and Eva (Kahn) Bellman. Her father, a merchant, was born March 7, 1858, and died at Omaha, March 11, 1902. Her mother was born April 14, 1861, and died at Omara (sic), February 23, 1923.

Mrs. Bradbury received her education in the grade and high schools of Omaha. She has been active in public life in Omaha for the past 25 years and has served every administration of the Chamber of Commerce since 1904. She is now secretary of the Membership Service Bureau of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce.

Her marriage to William Jay Bradbury was solemnized at David City, Nebraska, May 19, 1928. Dr. Bradbury, who was born at Platteville, Wisconsin, is an Omaha dentist.

She is a member of the National Geographic Society; the Nebraskana Society; the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce; and the Red Cross. She holds membership in the Order of Eastern Star; the Altrusa Club; and the Delphian Society. She is a Republican. Residence: Omaha.

Juliana Braddock

Juliana Braddock, ranchwoman, was born at Nevada, Iowa, March 10, 1879, daughter of John H. and Theodora T. (Tow) Jacobson. The father was born in Norway, July 4, 1854, and died at Chadron, Nebraska, October 9, 1930. He was a farmer and ranchman who came to America from Norway with his parents at the age of one year. Theodora T. Tow was born in Norway, July 28, 1854 and died at Mullen, Nebraska, January 1, 1928. She came to the United States at the age of 13 with her parents.

Juliana Jacobson attended district school in Sheridan County and high school in Rushville.

On March 28 1899, she was married to William Braddock at Chadron, Nebraska. Mr. Braddock was born at Marshalltown, lowa, December 26, 1856, and died at Chadron, January 7. 1917. He was a prominent ranchman, of English ancestry. There are two children, Gladys, born April 24, 1900, who married Alford Lee Isham, and Wilma Doris, born February 10, 1906, who is single.

Mrs Braddock has been a resident of Nebraska since 1885. In her early life she taught school, and after her marriage made a home for her husband. Since his death she has managed the ranch raising registered Hereford cattle, draft and saddle horses, Duroc-Jersey hogs, and White Leghorn chickens in addition to raising alfalfa hay. Mrs. Braddock is active in the Chadron Women's Club organized in her home in 1909. She is a member of the board of education of the Chadron Public Schools also. She enjoys horseback riding, while her hobbies are reading and the study of present day economics. Residence: Chadron

Harry Elwyn Bradford

Harry Elwyn Bradford, educator at the University of Nebraska since 1912, has lived in this state for the past 47 years, and has taken a prominent part in educational activities. He was born at Sheboygan, Wisconsin, February 12, 1878, the son of Dewitt A. and Almeda Velma (Crocker) Bradford. His father, who was born at Plymouth, Wisconsin, in 1848, and died at Minden, Nebraska, October 12, 1902, was a merchant. He was descended from the Bradford family who came from England in the early history of the country and settled in Massachusetts. His mother was born at Sheboygan, in 1853, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, October 4, 1912; she was directly descended from Priscilla Alden.

Professor Bradford attended the public schools of Nebraska, and in 1897 was graduated from the Orleans Academy. He received the A. B. degree, 1904, and the A. M. degree, 1917, from the University of Nebraska. He is a member of Gamma Sigma Delta, Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta. He was a student at Columbia University in New York City in 1922. In 1932 he received the Ph. D. degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

He taught in high school, was principal of city schools, and superintendent, at Chadron, Aurora, and Kearney, Nebraska. He has been professor of vocational education at the University of Nebraska since 1912, serving as chairman of the department. He is the author of Geography and Agriculture of Nebraska. He is a member of the Nebraska State Teachers' Association, American Vocational Association, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and the Nebraskana Society. He is a member of the Rotary Club and of the Masonic Order. He is affiliated with First Plymouth Congregational Church at Lincoln. His sport is golf, and his hobby is music.

He was married to Ethel King at Geneva, Nebraska, December 27, 1904. Mrs. Bradford was born at Bedford, Iowa, June 25, 1880. They have one daughter, Eloise, born December 11, 1911. Politically, Professor Bradford is an independent, Residence: Lincoln.

Edward Leonidas Bradley

Edward L. Bradley, distinguished lawyer of Nebraska, has lived in this state for over 40 years and has engaged in the practice of law at Omaha, since 1896. He was born at Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois, November 1, 1870, the son of Leonidas Hamline and Abagail Lucretia (Manly) Bradley. His father, who was born at Patriot, Ohio, July 23, 1842, and died at Omaha, May 6, 1913, was a lawyer; he was assistant acting adjutant general at Fort Pickering, Tennessee, during the Civil War; he received his A. B. and A. M. degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University.

His mother was born in Marshall County, Illinois, May 3, 1847, and died at Omaha, August 19, 1927. She was graduated from the Bettie Stuart Institute at Springfield; she was the oldest daughter of Uri Manly, lawyer, state senator, probate judge, and a member of the Illinois constitutional convention. He was quartermaster in the United States Army.

Mr. Bradley was graduated from the Omaha Central High School in 1891, and in 1896 was awarded the LL. B. degree at the University of Omaha. He was a student at the University of Pennsylvania, 1891-92. He was editor of the Omaha High School Register, 1890-91.

He was united in marriage with Luna May Powell at Omaha, June 17, 1903. Mrs. Bradley was born at Sand Lake, Michigan, October 4, 1881, the only daughter of George S. and Lucy J. Powell. They have two children, Edward Leonidas, and George H.

came merged in, and known as, the law department of the University of Omaha. He was the founder of the Omaha Avocation Club later known as the Concord Club. He was connected with the founding of the Omaha Athletic Club. He is justice of the supreme forum, of the Loyal Order of Moose, and a Mason, Nebraska Lodge Number 1, Tangier Temple, Shrine, Mount Calvary Commandery, and Knight Templar. He is past regent of the Royal Arcanum. He is a Republican. Residence: Omaha.

Edwin Bruce Bradley

One of the leading professional men at Spencer, Nebraska, is Edwin Bruce Bradley, who was born at Charles City, Iowa, June 12, 1879, the son of John Stratton and Susan Martin (Newell) Bradley. He was graduated from the high school at Charles City, Iowa, in 1896, and received the M. D. degree at Rush Medical College in 1908, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta and Nu Sigma Nu.

Dr. Bradley was admitted to the practice of medicine at Chicago, Illinois, in 1903, and since 1912 has been a practicing physician at Spencer. He is a director in the Spencer State Bank, holds membership in the Nebraska Society, and is a Mason. His political affiliation is with the Republican party.

On March 6, 1911, he was married at Des Moines, Iowa, to Josephine Momsen, who was born at Grand View, South Dakota. Residence: Spencer.

Elmer Leo Bradley

Elmer Leo Bradley was born at Exeter, Nebraska, June 25, 1897, the son of Frank M. and Lizetta M. (Schneider) Bradley. His father, who is a retired business man, was born in Pennsylvania, February 8, 1861; his ancestry is Irish. His mother was born of German parentage, in Iowa, February 20, 1868.

Mr. Bradley attended the country schools of Fillmore County, Nebraska, and in 1913, was graduated from the high school at Geneva. He was assistant cashier of the Hebron State Bank for a time, was secretary-treasurer of the Shickley Grain Company, and is now cashier of the Shickley State Bank, Shickley, Nebraska.

A Republican, he served as township treasurer for four years, village trustee two years, and mayor of Shickley, two years. He is affiliated with St. Mary's Catholic Church at Shickley, holds membership in the Knights of Columbus, and is a member of the Nebraskana Society. Mr. Bradley served as a first class private in the World War and is a member of the American Legion.

On June 30, 1920, he was married to Addle P. Spangler, in Fillmore County. Mrs. Bradley was born in Chase County, Nebraska, May 14, 1896, and for six years prior to her marriage was county superintendent of schools in that county. They have four children: Elmer Leo, Jr., born November 14, 1921; Betty Joan, born January 13, 1925; Gene Marie, born August 13, 1928; and Paul Francis, born August 2, 1931. Residence: Shickley.

DeEmmett Bradshaw

DeEmmett Bradshaw, a prominent lawyer of Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, was born at Izard, Arkansas, the son of David Corroll and Emily Frances (Meredith) Bradshaw. His father, who was born in Tennessee, and died in Arkansas, in 1907, was a farmer. His mother was born in Mississippi, April 3, 1837, and is still living in Arkansas.

Mr. Bradshaw attended the country schools of Arkansas, and later was a student at the national normal university at Lebanon, Ohio, where he was graduated with a B. S. Degree. He also graduated from the Arkansas Law School. He has practiced law at Omaha since 1916, and is now general attorney for the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company. A Democrat, Mr. Bradshaw held the offices of chairman of the city Democrat Committee at Little Rock, Arkansas, and some other offices.

He was president of the Arkansas Humane Society, and the Arkansas Sunday School Association. He is affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Little Rock, and was superintendent of the Sunday School for 12 years, and is now a member of the First Methodist Church of Omaha. His Omaha clubs include: Happy Hollow, Omaha Athletic, and Omaha Club. He is a Mason and a member of the Woodmen of the World.

He married Nellie Shorthill at Little Rock. Mrs. Bradshaw is a musician and composer; she was born in McDonald County, Missouri. Three children were born to them: Melba, born May 21, 1899, who married John B. Dawson, who was graduated from the law school at the University of Nebraska; Ellen Frances, born January 10, 1905, who married Mason S. Zerbe, a graduate of Ames College; and DeEmmett, born April 5, 1903, who died June 30, 1916. Residence: Omaha.

Archie Lee Bradstreet

Archie Lee Bradstreet was born at Sanborn, Iowa, January 19, 1888, the son of E. Thomas and Mary Luella Bradstreet, and for the past 31 years has been a resident of Grand Island, Nebraska.

His father who was formerly a state senator of Nebraska, was born at Quasqueton, Iowa, February 14, 1866, and is a descendant of a colonial governor s Massachusetts. He was united in marriage to Mary Luella Bidinger on November 25, 1886, at Quasqueton, Iowa. He went to Sanborn, Iowa, and in the fall of 1888 removed to Sioux City, Iowa, and in 1900 located at Grand Island, Nebraska. Mrs. Bradstreet, whose ancestry is Scotch and German, was born at Quasqueton, June 24, 1867, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, in February, 1919.

Mr. Bradstreet was graduated from the Sioux City High School and later attended business college there. At this time he is secretary-treasurer of the Bradstreet & Clemens Company of Grand Island, Nebraska, and is a member of the Grand island bodies of the Elks and Masons. He is a member of the Woodland Golf Club and his chief recreations are golfing, reading, and hunting, He is the holder of 48 medals and cups which he has wee at different times, both in Wyoming and Nebraska.

His marriage to Helen Anna Lykke was solemnized at Grand Island, August 9, 1912. Mrs. Bradstreet, whose ancestry is Danish, was born at Grand Island, March 16, 1889. Archie Lee Bradt

Born at Ord, Nebraska, June 11, 1882, Archie Lee Bradt is the son of Aaron V. and Clara Jane (Blodgett) Bradt. His father, who was a farmer and served as second lieutenant in the Union Army during the Civil War, was born of Dutch and Irish parents at Amsterdam, New York, October 17, 1836, and died at Ord, July 20, 1906. His mother, whose ancestry was Dutch, was born at Clinton, Wisconsin, February 11, 1858.

Mr. Bradt clerked in a mercantile establishment for seven years, was a drayman and expressman for eight years, engaged in farming and the dairy business for en years, and for over 10 years was the proprietor of a cafe. For the past three years he has operated an oil station at Ord, where he is active in civic affairs.

He served as director in the local Chamber of Commerce during 1923 and 1924, was president of the Fire Department, 1910-12, was a member of the local Library Board in 1924, and served on the Ord School Board from 1920 to 1924. Since 1906 he has been a member of the Masons.
