   EMMETT I. ELLIS was born October 4th, 1876 in Arizona township this county. He accompanied his parents upon their removal to this city where he attended the public school and graduated from the High School in 1892. For two years he served as deputy county treasurer under John F. Piper and later worked as book-keeper for the Deering Harvester Co., in Omaha, which position he resigned to accept a similar position with the First National Bank of this city. In November, 1903. he was elected by a large majority as County Treasurer of this county, which position he is holding at the present time.
   Mr. Ellis was united in marriage June 18th. 1902, to Miss Jane Telyea in this city.

   SETH KELLY was born in Stuben county, New York, December 14th, 1830 and died at his home adjoining this city May 5th, 1900. From New York Mr. Kelly moved to Jackson county, Iowa, and from there to Burt county, Nebraska. in the fall of 1856, passing that winter in the timber along the Missouri. The following spring he moved to the farm adjoining Tekamah on the east, where he lived continuously until his death. Mr. Kelly was married four times and at his death thirteen children survived him. He was first married to Julia Price in 1853 and to this union two children were born. He was again married in 1864 to Mariette Hunt and to them was born eleven children. In 1888 he was married to Isabelle Bush and to this Union two children were born. Again, April 17th. 1898, he was married, this time to Mrs. Elizabeth Fister who survived him.

   CHARLES KENDRICK OTT was born April 18th, 1867, at Oswego. New York. While an infant he accompanied his parents upon their removal to Iowa. In that state, at Wilton, he grew to manhood. December 20th. 1887, he came to Tekamah where he has been engaged continuously, with the exception of two brief intervals, in the publishing and printing business.

   Mr. Ott was united in marriage September 9th, 1891, to Miss Charlotte E. E. Walbridge of this city.

   TOLBERT STORY was born March 18th, 1864, at Blair, Nebraska. He accompanied his parents upon their removal to Arizona township, this county, in April, 1864, and spent all his life in that locality, dying December 2nd, 1896. He was united in marriage October 2nd, 1884, to Miss Dora Mayden.

   E. C. HOUSTON was born January 8th, 1861, on a farm in Monroe county. Indiana. He was educated in the schools of that state and graduated from the Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana. Mr. Houston came to Burt county, Nebraska, in August, 1881. For four years he was in the employ of Thomas & Darst, lumber dealers. In 1885 he organized the present H. C. Houston & Co, since which time he has conducted a large business in building material and coal. For the past seven years he has also been extensively engaged in farming and sheep feeding. During his residence here Mr. Houston has been one of the county's foremost citizens, investing the abundant fruits of his energy and business talent in improving and building up the county. In 1893 he was elected Mayor of the city and his administration is pointed to as one of the best the city has ever had.
   Mr. Houston was united in marriage in June, 1885, to Miss Jennie D. Templeton, of this city.

   GEORGE C. LATTA was born March 23d, 1851, in VanBuren, Jackson county, Iowa. He removed to Burt county, March 29th, 1878, making his first residence in Arizona township. In addition to the large farming and stock raising interests which have occupied his attention since residing here he, in February, 1888, established the "Plateau Bank" at Herman, Nebraska. Mr. Latta moved, with his family, from Arizona township, to a farm near Tekamah, in 1892, where he still resides. One of Mr. Latta's delights is in the
