   Mr. Latta was united in marriage to Capitola E. DeSilva, December 2nd, 1879.

   GILMAN PAGE BROOKINGS was born April 11th, 1841, in Woolwich, Maine. He removed from there to Phippsburg, Maine, where he resided up to the time of his removal to Nebraska. He came to Burt county. April 10th, 1867, making his first home in Silver Creek township. Mr. Brookings has been one of the active citizens of this county, contributing much to the upbuilding of the west. In addition to his farming interests he has for a number of years conducted one of the leading hotels of the county.
   Mr. Brookings was county treasurer in 1876 and 1877 and for three years was assessor of Silver Creek township and also of the city of Tekamah for three years.
   Mr. Brookings was united in marriage to Alice Colton Breed. June 26th, 1879.

   INGBERT L. MATHISON was born in Denmark in 1868. He accompanied his parents to America when two years of age. The family settled in Iowa where Mr. Mathison grew to manhood, coming to this city May 23d, 1891, and residing here continuously since. He is a photographer and furniture dealer and conducts a large and growing business.

   ORLANDO S. PARMELEE was born March 5th, 1858. in Killingworth, Connecticut, He came Tekamah, September 15th, 1886, and has since been a continuous resident here. From 1895 to 1898 he was postmaster of this city. During most of his residence here he has conducted a meat market.
   Mr. Parmelee was united in marriage June 8th, 1884, to Miss Emma Goddard.

   JOHN S. ROBINSON was born June 15th, 1855, at Lenoir. Caldwell county, North Carolina. When very

small he accompanied his parents to Indiana where they made their home. From Indiana Mr. Robinson came to Nebraska, settling in Tekamah, March 18th, 1875. In 1876 he went to the Black Hills but only remained there one summer, returning to this city again. After his marriage in 1878 he and his wife went to Kansas where they stayed one summer returning to this city and living for a time in a dugout in the bluff near the city pumping station. He engaged in gardening and in March, 1879, he bought one lot, near where he now lives, for $10, paying for it by chopping wood. He now owns a fine home with 33 acres in fruit and vegetables, part of it being laid out into 53 city lots. In April, 1890, he was appointed Cemetery Sexton and is holding that position at this date. Mr. Robinson's success shows what energy, economy and strict integrity can do for a man in this county.
   Mr. Robinson was united in marriage January 3d, 1878, to Miss Mary J. Ray.

   FRED STORY was born in Arizona township, Burt county, May 28th, 1874. He accompanied his parents upon their removal to this city and grew to manhood here. Since attaining man's estate he has been engaged in ranching and farming in this vicinity.
   Mr. Story was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Taylor, of this city, May 7th, 1898.

   JAMES R. FOREE was born at LaGrange, Missouri, April 22nd, 1864, At the age of three years his father died and from then on his life was spent in Ohio and Missouri, where his mother was a teacher. He came to Tekamah in the month of April, 1886, and worked in the real estate office of C. W. Conkling. In April, 1887, he formed a partnership with E. W. Peterson, under the firm name of Peterson & Foree and purchased the business of Mr. Conkling. This firm continued until December, 1894, when Mr. Peterson retired. since which time Mr. Foree has conducted a general real estate and loan business.
